Travelling Wanderer Needs a New Van

Donation protected
If you don't know me, my name is April and I have a travel blog called Travelling Wanderer. Six months ago, I decided to take a leap of faith and sell all my stuff to join the van life movement. I quit my job and moved out of my house and did a van build in a 1990 Chevy G-20 Van. Recently, I moved up to the PNW where winters are quite wet. After being here for only two weeks, we noticed that some leaks were coming in from the front seat. These leaks were just the beginning. One of the doors is filled with water due to old weather stripping that needs to be replaced. The other front door is leaking from that as well. A week after that, we discovered more leaks that are coming from different parts of the van and are now slowly destroying all the hard work that was put into the van. There are a few in the ceiling, all four of our windows are leaking, and there are a few leaks in the floor as well. Bertha has started to grow mold, and now it could be potentially unsafe to live in for too much longer. After relocating, funds are tight and we just don't have the proper resources to get a new van. If we were to properly replace everything that needs to be done, it would thousands of dollars. It would undo all the work that was done in the first place to make it a home truly.

Instead of spending thousands of dollars replacing these things, I'd rather put this money towards a van that will be better for my travels in the long run. Van life is one of the gems of Travelling Wanderer and I want to do everything I can to not to lose it. This is why I am asking for help. I am not the kind of person who asks for money, nor expects free handouts in life. I have worked for everything I have including Bertha, and I am disheartened that after only 6 months she is falling apart.

Where would your donation go?

Well, first of all, I want to donate 5% of the proceeds that I make from here to the local Seattle Humane Center. I am a huge animal lover, and I think it's really important to give back. No matter the amount that is earned on here, I will donate 5% to the animals here in Seattle. I will also show proof that I do this as well at the end of the campaign.

You can find their website at www.seattlehumane.org

Bali, the adventure cat whom I got from my local humane society will get a new secure van to play in as well and a comfy new home.

The rest of your donation would go towards obtaining a new van! I am looking at getting a newer van that will not leak and will be a solid travelling machine for many years to come. This van will then be converted into a camper which will have all the necessary things to be livable.

When everything wrong with Bertha became known, there were many times that I wanted to quit vanlife because it just seemed too hard.  However, I know that through this lifestyle, I am able to travel anywhere I want and be able to experience things that I would never have in a house.

Even if you are able to give a $1, I would be so grateful. From the bottom of my heart, I would appreciate any support that I get. This has been a very stressful and disheartening situation, and I just want to be in a new van where I don't have to worry about where different leaks are coming from and whether or not mold will be growing. If this was an easy fix, I would have tried that. Unfortunately, it's complicated to the point where I need to ask for help.

Once the campaign is over, I will most definitely be keeping up with the progress of the new van and what comes of it. Keep updated on all social medias.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
