Transportation for Robert Burrow

Donation protected
Over the years Robert S Burrow has become an extended member of the family of Cleveland Firefighters  and emergency workers alike. Robert has told more fire stories through his photography than probably any one of us has to share. Aside from his presence at hundreds of fires, he has attended cadet graduations, retirements, fundraisers, award ceremonies and a hosts of other venues. If you can't place him, he's the one behind the camera lense snapping the shutter - frame by frame, memorializing who we are and what we do. In a time where a twist on a story sells better than the truth, Robert paints all of us in a good light. Through his generosity we have shared his stories with our friends and family without ever incurring a cost. He has never asked for compensation. He is not asking now.

Here lately, at fires in the middle of the night, one can't help but recognize the absence of familiar site - Robert Burrow's face buried behind the lense of a camera.

We've all been seeing less of him lately and it's simply because he lacks funding to repair his 2005 Dodge Neon. For months now he has been saving to purchase an alternator and a belt.

At 62 years old and facing yet another layoff, Robert retired from his job as a tow motor operator. He is now 66 and struggles with diabetes. His sole income is a social security check. Given the fact that he has not had a car for months,  it seems apparent that his minimal expenses exceed his nominal income.

There are many worthy causes to contribute to  - so many that are by far more dire than this one. It is for this reason that I hesitate to even ask for funding. I know all of you are already helping others.

It is however, in the generosity firefighters have shown throughout the years in helping their own,  that I am motivated to ask. Let's extend a lending hand to our adopted brother and in doing so,  demonstrate the appreciation he so duly deserves.

My request is to raise adequate funds to purchase reliable transportation for Robert Burrow so that he may continue to share his hobby with all of us.
