Transportation for Homeless Youth

In partnership with the community, HYC’s mission is to raise awareness and meet the needs of youth experiencing homelessness so they can stay in school and graduate.  HYC's ongoing goal is to provide these teens with housing, basic needs and services as they make positive, life-affirming choices toward becoming responsible, productive adults.  Together with educators, government agencies, service organizations, faith-based organizations, compassionate community members and donors, HYC is helping to bring a positive future to this nearly invisible and forgotten population.

Last year HYC served 400 youth impacted by homelessness. This year, we anticipate we will have 600 students in the program. 

The vast majory of the students served by HYC do not have access to reliable transporation.  Most of the time, the only means we have to get students to doctor's appointments, counseling, and after school activities is provided by staff or by paying for ride sharing services such as Uber and Lyft. This expense can add up very quickly, and as the number of students that HYC serves increases, so does the cost.
