Transportation for Army Vet

I have met a special friend through my volunteer work at HVAF. His name is Kent, and I would like to tell you about him. Kent is a army vetearn from Illinois.
He is 52 years old, but due to his multipule medical issues he looks like he is in his late 70's. Kent stands 6'7" but walks with a cane and just recently was released from the hospital after an emergency surgery to remove his appendix.
Kent has no family. He has very few friends, mostly because he can't leave his house. Kent had a special dog named Missy but Missy sadly passed away from cancer about a year ago. Since that time Kent has been very lonely. I try to see him often and this year he spent Christmas with me and my family. It was the first time he sat around a table with a family in a long time and he loved it. He laughed a lot at me and Emma joking and teasing each other, and mom scolding us to behave!! It is the little things that he misses about being around people.
Kent had a wife but she along with their child was killed by a drunk driver many years. After that tradgy Kent decided to remain alone.
I thought it would improve Kent's quality of life by giving him a way to get out of his apartment and drive through town. I also wanted to help him gain freedom to go to a doctor appointment on his own without relying on someone else. He would love to be able to go to the grocery store without depending on anyone. I am raising money to purchase him a 150 CC taotao Quantum Scooter.
This Quantum Scooter is something he has never asked for but I know it would mean so much to him, while also giving him something of his own that he can depend on.
