11 200 couronnes danoises = 1500 euros.

My book L'âge du Metal, written in french and published in 2007, needs now to be translated into english in order to be accessible also to the non-french readers. This collection will be used to pay the translator. And it's a big job because my book has 520 pages! 11 200 danish kroner = 1500 euros.

For those who want to know a little bit more about me, you can read this interview in english from Metal Storm:

Foreword / A far-reaching encounter

You have this book in your hands and you are probably wondering how a Catholic priest came to be interested in metal. Let us go back in time...

September 1994, in the town of Orange, at the parish church chaplaincy hall. I am sitting at my chaplain's desk, on duty for the inscriptions of the youth group. I have been a priest for barely a year, I have just finished my studies at the seminary of Rome, I am 26. The Most Rev. Raymond Bouchex, my archbishop, has just given me my first job: curate and young people's chaplain.

Unexpectedly, two young sixth-formers, brothers, enter the hall to enroll. Their appearance intrigues me immediately because it is the first time in my life I have seen such a look: long hair, black clothing, black t-shirts with morbid and bloody designs... I start filling in their papers and, as I ask them questions, I realize that they have not come to the chaplaincy out of curiosity, but that they well and truly are committed Catholics. Moreover, their mother is the parish catechist. Even so, my inner thoughts continue in their own direction, telling myself that they don't look very Christian! This "paradox" pushes me to question their mother who speaks of music, of metal, and who even invites me to her house to listen to them rehearsing, as one of them played in a band. Metal? I had never heard this word which sounded somewhat exotic and mysterious to me. I had been submerged in classical music all my childhood, my father loving that style. A few days later there I was in the family garage: that was the first time I listened to metal, a rehearsal of the band CORTEGE, with a somewhat aggressive style, especially in the vocals.

From that day onwards my curiosity grew rapidly. In February 2000 I launched a questionnaire entitled "Study of planet Metal". The metalheads who received it did not know at that point that it was from a Catholic priest. I received over 550 answers. And it is based on the statistical and mathematical synthesis of these answers that I could write this book. I also thank the two authors of this synthesis, Bertrand Garnier and Olivier Vezzani. And to the reader of this study, I wish a fascinating journey to planet Metal!
