Traci needs a temporary roof

Donation protected
Traci Foy, living in a shelter since August, urgently needs short term housing until her affordable studio unit is available in early December

Traci is 57 and worked for 30 years,  including caring for others as a certified nursing assistant in various Boise facilities. With her significant physical and emotional issues, and the increasingly cold weather, her physical and emotional health are suffering.

Her need is acute and she is at risk.  This past Saturday she was in the emergency room with severe dehydration and low blood pressure.

She has qualified for a section 42 apartment at Mallarde Pointe (for 55+) in Garden City, has excellent references and has passed all the requirements--  including background check-- for her federally subsidized apartment.

I am hoping for donations, and suggestions for-- or offers of -- low cost,  temporary housing until early December.  With your donations she would be able pay a modest amount by the day or week.

Is there perhaps someone with an empty AirBnB unit or a vacant apartment where she could stay; and pay reduced rent, close to a bus route or to downtown Boise where her doctors, therapist  and caseworkers are.

Living in the shelter is stressful and chaotic, and Traci seldom gets the rest she needs.   Try to imagine how important it is for her to be warm and to be able to lie down during the day,  when feeling sick or fighting even a minor respiratory infection.

Traci had been living carefully on her fixed income-- with several medical and psychological ailments-- until she and her comfort companion dog Aajyn were priced out of their apartment in August of this year.

Traci's story is moving-- she has overcome hardships and trauma and showed remarkable resilience-- and I encourage you to read Maria Laganga's amazing Idaho Statesman story and view the moving video and gallery of photos by Katherine Jones.
