Hi Ya'll!!

Here is my latest and greatest endeavour. On December 20th,2014 I will be leaving to compete for the title of Miss DC USA 2015! I am so beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to compete for the title that will go on to represent the nation's capitol at Miss USA!

As many of my close friends and family know, Miss USA has been a dream of mine since before I could form the words to verbalize it. I watch Miss USA every year with my pen and paper, make my predictions, and tear up at the thought of being on that stage one day. I think about all of the hardwork, determinitation, dedication, time in the gym, and overall perseverance it takes to be there and every year it makes me work harder and harder to make that dream become a reality. I can promise ya'll that this year, more so than ever, I am leaving NOTHING behind.

I know some of the many reasons I was given this dream and I am sure God has some stored away that will be surprises, but what I do know is that I will NOT win the title of Miss DC USA and let it go unused. I will dedicate my time to promoting the Miss Universe organization, making a difference in my community, empowering everyone I have the privlege of coming across, and promoting my organization, Strength Beyond Strength.

Strength Beyond Strength was laid on my heart at the age of 16 when my mom was diasgnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. I quickly realized that being a teenager and having a parent with a terminal illness took strength beyond strength. I started a blog, twitter account, and started a group in my community to give other young adults facing the same or similar difficuties a place they could go and not feel alone. Who knew that four years later, I would be facing that devil called cancer in the face again with a mom who has now been diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer that came back  in the bones. I have now benefitted from my own organization and realized the importance having a place we all can gain Strength Beyond Strength.

With this dream comes many expenses. To keep from boring ya'll with details, I have broken down my expenses with a general amount alloted for each.

-Registration fee- $995
-Pageant Prep- $4,000
(includes training and travel expenses between now and time of the pageant)
-Wardrobe- $5,000
(includes gown, interview, swimwear, jewelry, shoes, alterations, ect.)
-Misc- $1,500
(includes hair and makeup, butt glue, and all of those other pageant items that make no sense if you don't know about them ;)

Total- $11,495

As you can see, I am asking for less than what the pageant will actually cost me. Every single dollar counts and I genuiely cannot express how greatful I truly am for all the love and support I recieve from my friends, family, and community. Ya'll make this possible and I do this as much for ya'll as I do for anybody or anything else. I love each and every one of ya'll and cannot wait to make you proud in December.

xoxoxoxo,
Torrie
