At the Toronto Film Society, we believe movies are best seen with like-minded film buffs. We believe comedies are funnier in a crowded theater and musicals are more impressive on the big screen. We believe sharing the experience of films with others trumps the experience of watching at home every time.
Today the TFS is dedicated to celebrating cinema and to enhancing awareness and understanding of the art of film among Toronto’s broad and diverse film going audience, but we are facing the very real threat of having to shut down.
The cost of theatre rentals has increased tremendously in the past few years to the point where our screenings are not breaking even unless they are virtually sold out.
As well, there are costs involved with our website, printing programs, film rentals, office space and well, you get the picture.
If we can raise $10,000, that will be enough to keep us going for another two years. Our goal is to build our membership back up so that we don’t have to do this again.
We know that there are many worthy organizations who are asking for money. In exchange for your generous donation, we have a series of offers:
