I've been fortunate over the years to work with some amazing artists including: Nigel Kennedy, Orphy Robinson, Shabaka Hutchings. This album will showcase my original writing, new techniques and sounds I have been working on for many years, for the first time.

As this project has been entirely self funded up until now, if you are able to support us in any small way for this major undertaking and the vast upfront costs, by pre-ordering our album, or taking a look at some of our tasty bespoke set of rewards, we would SO appreciate it. Every single donation will make an enormous difference, and will go directly towards the recording, mixing and mastering of the album.

All donations of the album and above will also get exclusive access via our Members Area to Behind the Scenes Diary and juicy info!

This album will showcase the unique sound of the Tori Handsley Trio for the first time, to put the trio on the map: putting the harp into an entirely new context, as a lead instrument, using FX pedals, alongside two of the most in demand ground breaking leaders on their own instruments, Ruth Goller (Melt Yourself Down, Rokia Toure) & Moses Boyd (Binker&Moses, Floating Points, Zara Macfarlane).

Expect catchy, rocky riffs, driving bass, reggae grooves, drum 'n bass rhythms...splattered with layers of improvisation. The album will feature my original compositions, and will take the harp into daring new territory, and give a voice to our band to enable us to make a serious stamp, perform at larger venues and share our music with the wider world!

"Tori Handsley took the harp into unexplored territory with her open-minded, mesmerizing post-EST compositions"
Selwyn Harris, Jazzwise Magazine

I deeply believe we are at a time when we desperately need to fuel the arts, to promote diversity to encourage expression and new ways of seeing: to change perceptions, and empower others to find positive, creative solutions to the complex challenges of today. My songs tell stories, inspired by places or experiences that have made a deep impact on the way I have thought about the world and our place in it.

Through my music, I hope to inspire other artists, especially younger women, to step out, and do something different and be themselves! I also co-host a monthly improvisation night at the Vortex, London, where we have created a community of musicians and audience, where we welcome artists of all walks of life, and generations, to get up on stage together and improvise in the moment.

I'm deeply passionate about demonstrating what a versatile instrument the harp can be. Unfortunately in England the harp is rarely seen in everyday society: most people I meet say they have only seen it at the back of an orchestra, or on the TV, and I want to bring the harp closer to society, and show people what it can do!

Along the way, facing natural preconceptions about this mysterious instrument, is an ongoing challenge. However, as I strive to show the harp in a new light, no matter where I go, I am constantly surprised and bowled over by people of all walks of life's enthusiasm for hearing the harp playing in a different way, and what spurs me on.

Bringing new audiences to hear our music, to 'harp' gigs, (its not known for being the coolest pull!) to reach out to people on a wider level, is an even greater challenge, but the album will enable us to properly put our sound down, to show the wider world what we are doing.

If you haven't heard the trio live, please check out some of the recent live footage:
