Tony's Immigration Support

Since arriving in the USA, Tony has worked for the American dream with amazing enthusiasm. After graduating from Beloit College with a degree in political science, he went to work for a large retailer and quickly became a well loved and dedicated employee. To accelerate the naturalization process, he made the ultimate patriotic choice and enlisted in the US Army, where he served at Fort Benning. After an honorable discharge, Tony thought he was on the road to full citizenship.

Except that is not what happened.

Instead, he was apprehended by ICE (on Veterans Day!) and detained for 21 days. During this time, his Chinese passport and Wisconsin ID were seized and not returned upon his release. Although he continues to work towards naturalization, without the proper ID he cannot legally find employment. It may take more than a year to complete the process, a year in which Tony will have to live off credit cards to pay rent and afford the basic necessities.

Everyone knows that the American immigration system has problems. What we don't often see are the hard working people that fall through the cracks. Tony is not looking for a handout, just some support during this bureaucratic limbo. Everyone who meets him knows he is a good person who has remained optimistic kept a sense of humor despite every obstacle placed in his way. Our country will be better with him as part of it.

The amount we are trying to raise will cover 6 months rent (at $650 per month) for him. All we want to do is ensure he has a roof over his head while going through this.
