Funeral Expenses for Tony Underwood
This GoFundMe account is being set up to help my great aunt, Linda Underwood, to cover funeral expenses for my cousin, Tony Underwood.
Tony went missing last May. Sherwood police, along with many volunteers and family members, searched local wooded areas multiple times with no luck. Police were unable to track his whereabouts via cell phone signal, and no tips came in to help locate him. Over time we have grown increasingly worried that the chances of Tony returning home were becomming very slim. Last week our worst nightmare was confirmed when the detective on the case informed us that a body had been found by a local hunter in the woods. Although at the time they were not able to confirm whether or not it was Tony, they did inform us that his wallet and phone were both in his pocket. After taking DNA samples from his elderly mother and his brother, we received news last night that the body was confirmed to be Tony's.
Tony lived with his mother, Linda. Linda has been very sick for many years and relies on Social Security each month to cover her expenses. It is heartbreaking to know that she not only has to mourn the death of her son, but must also stress about the impossible financial burden of a funeral that will need to take place as soon as the police are ready to release his body to the family.
Our family is heartbroken over this loss, and there are many questions that remain about what happened to Tony. In the mean time, we face the obstacle of planning a funeral and all trying to help Linda as much as we can financially. I come to you all, extremely humble, to say that any financial help you are able to give to my great aunt Linda would be so greatly appreciated. If you are unable to donate I ask that you please share this in hopes of it reaching more people. Losing a child is a tragedy that no parent should ever have to endure. If possible, I want to try to help make sure that she is able to have a funeral for her son, and that she is able to grieve without also worrying about this financial stress that accompanies a funeral.
Thank you all so much for taking the time to read this.
Thank you all.
With that being said, she still faces the planning of a funeral that will begin as soon as the body is released to the family from the crime lab. Funerals must be paid upfront and are thousands of dollars, even doing the bare minimum. Please continue to share, and donate if you are able. We will forever be thankful to everyone who has helped during this time.
