Tony Baldwin  NEW HAVEN, CT
I am a single parent, and I work freelance/self-employed. I've missed considerable time working already, and will miss significantly more time, yet, because I've just had brain surgery. Getting back to work now has been proving difficult so far, just since the biopsy (anti-seizure meds make me tired and make it hard for me to focus), and I'm going to be doing radiation therapy 5 days/week for the next 6 to 8 weeks, starting 20 February, which is only going to make it more difficult.
On 28 January, I had a seizure, and went to the ER at St. Raphael's, where a CT scan and an MRI revealed a brain tumor. I've had a biopsy surgery, which eventually revealed a malignant (cancerous) glioma about the size of a golf ball.
Because I've in otherwise been in excellent shape for an old (46yrs) man with diabetes (I was running c. 40 miles/week before this happened, controlling my diabetes with diet+exercise only), the docs believe we can beat this thing, and possibly see no further complications for 3 to 10 years after radiation.
They're not allowing me to run right now, unless it's indoors on a treadmill (I'm walking a lot, and with your help, have ordered a cheap eliptical trainer to workout in the house). They don't want me to have a seizure miles from the house, alone.
I work primarily as a freelance translator, and they say the radiation could affect the linguistic parts of my brain, which could be bad for work. I also do web development on the side.
They say I'm going to be very tired. I'm going to lose hair, but I'm not too broken up over that...it just means I won't have to run the clippers around my head as often...
I have bills to pay, and a child to feed, and I appreciate all of your help. We have electric heat and owe the electric company $900. I DO have medical insurance, so do not require assistance with medical expenses at this time, just help to pay the utilities and rent, keep food on the table.
Thanks.

We may be nearing time to close this fundraiser! but we're not there just yet... I started this month, what I hope will be the last round or chemo with another drug, and so far it's going okay, but I won't have any idea of the progress or lack thereof for about another month, as I understand it. But I DID get news from Social Security and I will begin receiving disability payments next month, still, I have bills to make this month and am, as you likely already surmised, a bit short (not referring to only being 5feet 6inches tall, either So far this year I haven't cleared more than $800 in a month in income, and our rent alone is $795.00, in February I didn't even make $300.00, but I'm working as much as I can, we've only got this far with your help (for which I am and shall eternally be grateful), and we're now in the third year of this battle (it all started Feb 2014), and the hole has got pretty deep, especially with the electric company, who have only been prevented from shutting us off by a medical waiver for this potentially life-threatening illness.
I won't lie friends, I'm getting tired... Tired of being sick, tired of hanging around in hospitals, tired of worrying about how I'm going to keep the lights/phone/internet/heat on, tired of begging for help, and tired of the landlord harassing me...tired... But I'm going to keep fighting, because I don't know what else to do.. I love you all, and thank you SO MUCH for all your kindness and generosity over these past two years.

Those of you with whom I am connected on the Facebook already know this, but today I had another MRI, and the news was not good: The tumor has grown again. I can't lie. I've been feeling strong and went in with expectations that this might be the last one for a while, but alas, such is not the case, and I feel a little disappointed, discouraged, and deflated by this news. Those with me on Facebook also know I've had other difficulties just this week: the State of CT cleaned out my bank account for taxes I haven't paid these two years fighting cancer and struggling just to survive. I'm afraid to deposit money to my account now, for fear they'll snatch it up before I can use it. I tried to open a new bank account at another bank, but they wouldn't open an account for me until the overdraft on my daughter's account at the old bank (to which I was a co-signer) of $582 is paid, which, of course, I don't have.I'm at a bit of a loss what to do...I woke up hopeful about today's MRI, and with a plan to open a new account with a clean slate, and got shot down on both of these matters. I'm tired of feeling like a burden on family and friends, tired of struggling, and tired of one disappointment after another...

It's been almost two years now!, indeed, this whole brain tumor horror show started with a seizure on Jan 29, 2015, the diagnosis coming on Feb 6 of that same year, which was my 46th birthday, and in a couple weeks my 48th birthday approaches... I thought this whole thing was going to be done by now, frankly, and I feel like the doctors keep leading me to believe that the end (of the tumour, not me) is just around the bend, and yet, I 'm still fighting... For the most part, I feel that I'm in pretty good health, but you already know I'm a fighter and stubborn; I continue to work out on a daily basis, and take in as much work as I can...

You also know I'm quite tired, and ashamed to still be calling, and depending upon your kindness, but the truth is, with my hospital stay after Thanksgiving and other complications. I made less than $800 for the entire month of November 2016, and less than $700 for December, and my rent alone is $800 (cheapest available around here, which is why I live above drug dealers and witnessed a shooting in front of the house in October), So far, for this year, 2017 I've got a whopping $356 worth of work. Oh...my total income for 2016, (not including your generous support here, of course, without which we'd probably be homeless)., was less than $20k.
In the interests of full disclosure:
Here is the spreadsheet for Dec 2016: http://tonybaldwin.me/images/dec16invoices.jpg
Here is Nov 2016: http://tonybaldwin.me/images/nov16invoices.jpg
And for the 2016 Grand Total: http://tonybaldwin.me/images/2016yrendtotal.jpg
You can see some months were better than others, when I can, I take as much work as I can, but these last several months have not been good; either there's been little work available, or I've been unable to work, either due to being in the hospital, or simply recovering from those stays, and/or adjusting to medication changes, etc.

Okay, that was a lot of information, maybe TMI? I don't know...but the point is, I'm here begging again...sorry, because I'm in trouble again, for these past few months, I've at least stayed ahead of the rent, but now, for February, due to various factors, (availability of work, my working capacity, hospital stays, etc.), not the least of which includes that I've been robbed several times in this past month (break-ins, my own kid, who is now missing), etc. I am deep in hot water, and do not expect to be able to pay rent in February, much less the electric with which I've been struggling, as you know, Verizon, Comcast, all of which I need so I can work, since I work at home on the computer... And to top it all off, when my daughter ran off with her boyfriend, she took my food stamps, which is the only aid I receive from the State (besides health insurance...thank GOD for that! because I sure couldn't pay for the meds I'm on , or all the chemo/radiation/MRIs, etc. I've needed..Let's just hope and pray that Trump fails in his attempt to dismantle the important advances in health care that President Obama achieved for us.)

So once more, I am mortified to still be calling upon your kindness, but I know not what else I can do... I'd really rather not be staying on a park bench or under a bridge in this cold between chemo infusions, and I know that's where I'd be already were it not for your kindness, but sadly, now, again, probably more than any other time in these past two years, I am desperate for help, to avoid that fate, and it's COLD out there!

As many of you already know, I spent the first week of this month in the hospital, now, I haven't had any work since (recall I work freelance), worse, I learned this morning, that a payment I was expecting this week for a project I completed in November won't be coming until January, of course the bills keep coming and so is Christmas. I appreciate eveyone's generosity this far, and am sick inside to still be here begging more help, but what can I say..My situation, has changed since this whole thing started, but not nearly as much as I'd like, so we're still having difficulties.

Hello. Please help. I never ask for donations online. But this is an emergency. My good friend Steve Baldwin has a brother Tony. Tony just had his second brain surgery to remove a tumor. They were able to remove 97 percent of the tumor. Tony is recovering but cannot work yet. The immediate problem: rent. Tony owes $3000 in back rent. His landlord is threatening to evict him if he doesn't pay $3000 in rent by March 10. I have 300 friends on Facebook. If you click on the attached go fund me for Tony and you each donate $10 the problem will be solved. I contributed my part. Can you please donate and help this man from being evicted? Can you please pray for him? Thanks, friends!
