Hi my name is Thomas Sitzmann! I have been sailing all my life mostly on my family
cruising sailboat. The first time I sailed an Opti was at Fishing Bay Yacht Club right after school ended. I have been going there every year for the Fishing Bay junior week. Last summer I pursued bigger, more competitive, Opti regattas like the Nationals, New Englands, and the Atlantic Coast Championship. At those regattas I qualified for the 2017 Opti Team Trials. My goal for Team Trials was top 30 overall. To achieve that goal I went sailing every day I could after school. I finished in the top 15 overall which was enough to qualify me for the Asians, North Americans, and the U.S. Opti National Team.
Some of my short term goals for the Opti are to get top 60 at North Americans and to go to most of the National team practices to improve my tactical decisions. One of my long term goals is to make it to worlds which is top 5 at Opti Team Trials.
