My Brothers Fight!

My Brothers’ Fight

My brother Tom Bintliff was diagnosed with stage 4 squamous cell cancer of the head and neck in July of 2015. He fought like hell for over 10 months. The doctors repeatedly told him that he should have been dead by now. They were shocked and amazed that he was able to survive the unrelenting and painful treatments of chemo and radiation that he endured. He was unable to eat for months and survived by drinking protein shakes well into the next year, but after it all he got to ring the bell and say that he had kicked cancers BUTT! He wasn’t quite well enough to go back to work, but he was able to do some things outside that he loved doing and was able to go fishing once again.

Not eating much besides shakes and very mushy food, he did begin to smile on occasion and start to have faith and hope again…UNTIL this October. The scans showed that the cancer was back. “The first round of chemo and radiation completely destroyed his throat, neck and thyroid and he will not survive another round” were the words spoken from the Oncologist. I can’t explain the feeling that overcame me when I heard those words and the reality of those spoken words translated into my head that my 48 year old, one and only sibling was going to die and there was nothing they or I could do about it. So the bottom line is they can’t get rid of the cancer but with an immunotherapy drug called Keytruda he has been able to stay alive. He has had a few treatments so far. With the treatments, massive amounts of steroids, and a thyroid drug he, is hanging on and hoping the Keytuda will continue to improve his overall health and give him a chance and continue to survive.

I am asking for everyone’s help with anything they can contribute. Tommy married his high school sweetheart Maureen Kitchula 5 years ago and has 2 incredible stepchildren. Maureen suffered a brain aneurysm only one year after they got married. Maureen was a nurse liaison prior to her aneurysm and worked her entire adult life helping and caring for people. The damage from the aneurysm has left her unable to work. It seems they just can’t catch a “F”ing break!!!

She is now a full time nurse (unpaid of course) for my brother and the most incredible and extraordinary sister-in-law. Her strength, dedication and love for my brother has been un-measurable. My brother has said to me on more then one occasion, “I would have been gone long before this if it wasn’t for my Maureen”. So now that you know a little about both of them you can see the challenge:

         NO WORK + CANCER + ANEURYSM =
                                            ZERO MONEY

(Medical Bills + Mortgage + Bills + Kids in college +
Food + Everything = Need lots of Money)

I am begging you to contribute to my brother’s fight. A donation of any size will be so helpful. PLEASE SHARE THIS LINK TO HELP US GET THE WORD OUT. This campaign is linked to Tom’s email and bank account. They have exclusive access to the funds.

I can’t thank you enough!
Love,
Christine
