Toilets For The Little School Cafe
In September a group of students from the Independent Learning Centre in Naracoorte South Australia will be heading to Cambodia (with Head, Heart and Hand Holidays) to build a toilet block and wash station at The Little School Cafe.
The Little School Cafe is a dream of our friend Chhorvoan's and will make English and Computing classes available to poor students in Siem Reap.
English language and computing skills are imperative when it comes to breaking the cycle of poverty. The school will also provide a supportive environment for high-school students to study.
Chhorvoan (the director) comes from an very poor back ground and has worked extremely hard (since she was 5 years of age) to support her extended family. She's now in a position where she would like to "pay it forward" and give back to her community via this project.
The Independent Learning Centre in Naracoorte supports students who don't fit into main-stream schooling. A lot of the students fit studies in around part time jobs and some support themselves and their extended families.
The ILC (like the Little School Cafe) also helps students integrate into the workforce.
Naracoorte is the town I was born in. I'm passionate about the work of the ILC and giving teens an opportunity to see the world and help others less fortunate.
I'm also passionate about Cambodia... and Chhorvoan has been a much loved member of our Head, Heart and Hand team since the beginning.
Everything about this colaboration is pretty damn AWESOME!!
But we need your help. We need to fund these loos and wash stations!!
Once the loos and wash stations are built Head, Heart and Hand Holidays send in local social workers to give regular hygeine lessons and menstrual hygeine education.
It's a gift that keeps giving!!
Please support this cause that has a far reaching ripple effect!
