What started as an art exhibition with German pop artist Albrecht Behmel to support creative programs in schools and communities has taken a drastic turn in lieu of the recent tragedies around the world. We decided to shift our fundraising efforts to support our neighbors in Mexico!
Why Mexico? Why foundation DUERME TRANQUILO?
As we worked on this anticipated art exhibition, a few of our team members were affected by the natural disasters happening around the globe. Because we are an international team flying into Los Angeles, we felt compelled to raise money for a cause that so many people in the Los Angeles area are connected to.
We spent numerous hours of research to find foundations that would 'directly' help the people of Mexico. We also wanted to find a foundation with transparency and values we would be proud to raise money for. It was important for us to know how the money raised would be spent. This was not an easy task as so many foundations in Mexico are not legal for Americans (foreigners) to donate. We didn't want our efforts going to a large foundation where only a percentage would end up in the hands of those in need.
We wanted to make a BIG difference and collectively and after much research, we decided to support fundación DUERME TANQUILO!
100% of the money raised through this gofundme will go DIRECTLY from me ( Tamara Shaffer, brandHAWAII) to this amazing foundation which continues to make a difference in the lives of so many children and their families in Mexico by assisting in the rebuilding of hospitals, medical supplies, medications needed... AND the 'safe' transportation of the supplies and meds!
One day at a time and working together we can ALL make a difference for someone else.
