I have lived in Paradise since I was one year old. My father was the elementary school principal for almost 30 years. We knew most everyone in the town.
We lost our beautiful family home of 56 years, in the November 8th Camp Fire.
One of the most important thing to me and my family was the culture that little Paradise had to offer. In the mountains, amongst the rivers and pine trees, there was a Paradise symphony orchestra of all things.
I have played and soloed with them since I was 12 years old. I soloed with them for their 40th and 50th anniversary seasons, and just conducted them this past Oct. 28th for their 60th anniversary, which as it turns out, was their last concert, at least for a very long time.
My Mom Arlene had been board president of the symphony for years, and was head of the symphony guild, and is a huge reason the symphony is still going. The symphony helped give Paradise a name, and was a gathering place for the towns people on concert night. It also provided me with a place to play as a youngster, since there was no string program in the schools.
23 members of the Paradise Symphony tragically lost their homes in the Camp Fire. Some lost their instruments as well. I am raising money for the members of the Paradise Symphony, since it is so near and dear to my heart, and I’m ask you to help in any way you can… My goal is to raise $400,000.00. I will then personally give a portion to individuals who have lost their homes and/or instruments. You can be assured that I will directly distribute this fund to those that need it most.
I thank you all so much for joining me, and pitching in what you can, to get these people back on their feet. Together we can do it.
