Help after Todd's leg amputation

Donation protected
Hi everyone! Courtney here :) Thank you for taking the time to read this. My dad recently got diagnosed with osteomyelitis, an extremely rare bone infection, and now he has to get his leg amputated from the knee down. Here is a little bit of a background story - for people who know my parents, you know how incredible the both of them are. For those of you who don’t know, let me tell you – let’s start with my dad. My dad is the single greatest man I know (sorry, Nate ;) ) He’s so caring, loving, goofy, intelligent, and will do anything to make the people he cares about happy. He’s always been able to make me smile when I was upset, whether it was a silly dad joke, a hug, or just his heartwarming smile. He cares about everyone before himself. He always makes sure I’m happy, even though he’s the one struggling so hard with his health. He always puts his family first before his own issues. He’s so selfless, calm, and extraordinary. His smile is literally contagious and you can’t help but laugh when you’re in his presence, and there are few people I know that have that kind of effect on others.  Now, my mother – the backbone of our family. She is without a doubt the most caring person I know. She will do anything for the people she loves. She takes such good care of my dad, and I look up to her more than I could ever explain. She’s crazy, funny, loud, thoughtful, and all around the best person I know. She works so hard to take care of her family, and she loves harder than anyone in the whole world. My mom has always been my best friend, always. She’s helped me through every rough situation I’ve been in. She is literally always there for me, even when I call to ask silly questions about grocery shopping. She has so many amazing qualities, as does my dad, that if I sat here and wrote out all of them, nobody would get to the point of this message, which is -

Five years ago, my dad got this extremely rare flesh eating bacteria (necrotizing fasciitis) that led to him getting his pink toe amputated, then two months later had a really rare stroke that put him in a coma for about one month. Since then, he has had over 50 seizures, 15 surgeries on his foot, ended up in a coma for a second time, and so much more (again, if I continued to list everything nobody would read far enough to get to the point of the message). Now, my dad has this really rare bone infection (and I mean really, really rare, there are less than 1,00 cases per year), called osteomyelitis.  My dad is medically retired, and like I said before, my mom works so hard, so so hard, to keep their financial situation up, but it’s very difficult. Because of the insanely rare bone infection, my dad has to get his leg amputated from the knee down. With his happening, my mom has to take a lot of time off work to care for him (again, sweetest person ever). Taking off work means there’s a huge chance they could lose their insurance. They have an abundance of medical bills dating back to when this all began, and with the amputation happening they are going to have so much more, plus rehab bills and soon a prosthetic so my dad can walk again. Now, if I could, I would give them all the money in the world. They’ve done so much for me, and I hate that I can’t afford to give them everything they deserve. My parents are my world, and it’s killing me that I can’t make all of this pain and struggle go away. My mom really hates this and doesn’t want to seem like we are begging for money, but we are struggling more than I can put into words. If you could please donate, whether it’s $5 or $50, we would appreciate it way more than you know. Also, if you donate and want some family portraits, or any kind of pictures taken, feel free to let me know and whenever I am in California we can set something up for free. My website is www.courtneyverrill.com and you will find all of my contact info on there, or you can contact me through Facebook.

Sorry for the many, many paragraphs. But thank you so much for putting the time into reading this. Thank you for your donations. And thank you for caring for my family. We appreciate everything, whether it’s a donation, a prayer, or a positive thought. Thank you.
