Toby Kuykendall's Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Hello Everyone,
Starting last Saturday, my dad, Robert Toby Kuykendall, started getting very sick. Him and my mom thought it was just the flu or a cold, but the doctors thought it could be worse and asked for a CT scan to double check. On Thursday, the doctors called and immediately told my mom to get my dad to the emergency room so they went to the Baylor Scott and White in Carrolton. As his condition worsened, the doctors suggested he be immediately transported to the Baylor Scott and White in downtown Dallas, where he was transferred to the ICU. He was placed into a medical coma and put on three different life support systems. They believe a kidney stone, of which my dad has passed many in his time, was lodged in his kidney, making him become septic and causing an infection which entered his blood stream. Toby fought hard all day Friday and was visited by many friends in the hospital. Unfortunately, his body had enough, suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Type-2 Diabetes, and kidney issues, and my dad passed away at 4:48 am with me and my mom holding his hands.
My dad touched a lot of people's lives and we have been blessed by the outreach from everyone the past few days. My dad truly loved and cared for everyone and I know he would be blown away by the amount of people he had an impact on. Unfortunately, my dad did not have medical insurance (he worked for a small company) and was 5 months away from being eligible for Medicare. As such, my mom is going to be flooded with medical bills for the ambulance, three life support machines, and 3 days in the hospital. We aren't sure yet exactly how much it will be, but I would love to ease some of the burden as she will probably have to sell our house too.
We have had a few AMAZING people reach out and donate money for the memorial costs and to have my dad cremated and we could not thank them enough. I have had a few people reach out and wonder if they could help contribute financially. If anyone would like to help at all, my family would be extremely thankful. All funds will go towards the medical bills incurred while my dad was in the hospital. Again, we are not sure how much the bills would be so I put the amount at $5,000 just to help ease my mom's burden a little bit.
