CP Says F#ck Cancer

Donation protected
UPDATE: For those of you who have already donated, have helped to spread the word, have had her in your thoughts, have attended the awesome boat cruise we had with her, or have just given a smile when you've seen her, THANK YOU!  Some great news - she is done wearing the ice caps and made it through both September weddings with her hair! Now it's time to join her wonderful friend Amanda (who unfortunately is going through this too) as a rock star bald lady! We thought we'd share a couple of recent photos, showing the last round of the cold caps and then celebrating a chemo treatment day without them. While there have certainly been side effects, Chelsea is doing well and still staying very positive. We are down to around 9 weeks left before the first two major rounds of chemo are completed. Chelsea will be pumped, because as many of you know Christmas is by far her favorite time of year. Thanks for your continuous support and let's try to drive to this goal for her by sharing with anyone we might not have reached out to yet!

SUPPORT CHELSEA

They say cancer often hits those you least expect – Chelsea sure fits the bill. Young, active, healthy, positive, full of energy – and yet, as of a few short weeks ago, a cancer patient. Yes, stage 3 invasive breast cancer at 30 years old is hard to believe – but luckily, all of the wonderful things we know and love about Chelsea, the things that make us surprised by her diagnosis, will help her in the fight ahead.

For more than 10 years, Chelsea has followed her dream of being a nurse – working hard, studying often, and taking the past year off to focus on (and complete) her Master’s degree to become a Nurse Practitioner. She built a plan around a future of being able to help others, one that offered support and hope to those in need. Those facing medical challenges. Those facing life-changing hardship. Now, Chelsea is the one in need of support. And WE are the ones that can help.

While it’s expected that cancer will take a toll on the body, it’s often overlooked how much it can derail all plans for the future. Well, we’re not going to let that happen.

This GoFundMe account has been set up to help Chelsea continue to combat the effects of Cancer on her body, but also to keep her plans for the future intact. Here’s how:

Chemotherapy and the related treatments to fight Cancer are expensive. VERY expensive. And while Chelsea has health insurance - costly premiums, high co-pays, and out-of-pocket costs for items not covered by her plan are piling up. This GoFundMe will help Chelsea bring the fight to this terrible disease by allowing her to get the best advice and treatment available regardless of what her provider covers.

Invasive chemotherapy ages your ovaries about 10 years. IVF treatment to harvest viable eggs – before treatment takes its toll – can run upwards of $20,000. That’s a lot. But it’s the best way to ensure a healthy, uneventful pregnancy down the road – and this is something Chelsea and Ryan want very badly. This GoFundMe will give Chelsea an increased chance at being a Mom someday!

When you’re kicking Cancer’s ass – it’s hard to do anything, especially work (and her doctors have told her she can't). Not working means living expenses can become insurmountable. Traveling to and from appointments in Maine and to Dana Farber in Boston, eating healthy by staying on a chemo-directed diet, actually paying bills – can all add up. Quickly. This GoFundMe will help Chelsea keep on keeping on while she is fully focused on treatment and recovery.

Cancer can take a lot from you – including your hair. Unfortunately, treatments that help prevent that from happening are often not covered by insurance. This GoFundMe will give Chelsea access to ColdCaps – a breakthrough treatment that has been proven to help women keep their own locks – in the hopes of keeping her hair for a couple friends' weddings this Fall.

As you can see, there is a lot that can be done by giving to Chelsea’s GoFundMe, but perhaps more important than all of these wonderful, hopeful things above is that by offering our help, we can show Chelsea how much we love her and how much we all have her back.

Whether you’re a member of her family, a friend, a co-worker, a schoolmate, an acquaintance, or just a friend of a friend moved by her story – we can all do a little something to make a BIG difference for Chelsea. ANY sized contribution to this fund can pay one bill, offer one more ColdCap, provide one more healthy meal. No amount is too small. Thanks in advance for helping the cause!

The next year will be a difficult one for Chelsea – physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially – but one thing we know for sure, Cancer picked the wrong girl to f#ck with.
