TJ's Kids Are Coming Home

Donation protected
Tim has received full custody of his children after they were kidnapped five years ago by their biological mother. Please help him to provide the support they need to adjust and thrive.

Tim has created a stable life for himself so that he has something concrete to offer his children when he was able to be reunited with them. He accepted a stable job as a janitor, and then found a better position, also working a second job and odd jobs when they were available. He met and married a woman with 3 kids of her own, and when Z’s (S & F’s  half-brother) biological father was no longer able to care for him, he provided a home for him as well.

Over the years, Tim received many concerning reports about the health and well-being of his children, from mutual friends, social media posts, and children’s services. In August of 2018, mom and her boyfriend fled an open child welfare investigation in Oregon and settled in California with Tim’s two children, mom’s younger two children, and 4 pit bulls, in a school bus with no power or running water. There were reports of domestic violence and drug use between mom and her boyfriend, and she moved the children in with her drug dealer while she began prostituting herself.

Finally, in the beginning of May, Tim received a call from children’s services in California. They had S and F in custody after responding to a 911 call. It took hours for authorities to figure out who they were but Tim was contacted. The severity of the situation made the decision very black and white for children’s services, and Tim is being given full custody. Papers have been drawn up for the children to return to their father and brother beginning June 10th or 11th.

As a family, we are overjoyed that these children will finally be reunited with the father, but there are still many obstacles. The children will be sent to Tim and his wife with no belongings, no health insurance, no social security numbers, and no support financially or otherwise from any government organization. The children have never been to school or doctors. Tim’s stepchildren and the children’s older brother do currently live in the home, so there are beds, toys, and food for everyone, but there are other items that will be needed as well. Because there is evidence of significant abuse and neglect to both children, social services has recommended immediate therapy which will initially need to be paid out of pocket until social security numbers are obtained so the children can go on insurance. They are going to require security cameras for outside the house (mom will not have access to them), baby monitors for inside the house, personal clothing and toiletries for the children and of course the utility and grocery bills will rise.

Tim and his wife have been stable yet struggling financially. Their bills are paid and there is always enough food to eat because the family is very frugal and gets creative in bartering and making use of neighbor-to-neighbor services groups or food gleaning programs. Tim’s wife works from home so that they do not need childcare. In order to be able to focus their energy on supporting the entire family to thrive as a unit and to give TJ's children the extra care and love they need, Tim and his wife need to keep their stress load as low as possible. The best way to do this is to build up a fund with which to buy the needed items, cover additional bills and utilities until support can be obtained, and to make up the work difference from getting lower paychecks while everyone adjusts.
