Tipsy needs surgery

Meet Tipsy, a 2-year-old Labrador/Boxer/Rottweiler mix from Oslo, Norway. The last year, Tipsy has had issues with both hips and knees. February 2018, she had TPLO surgery and was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. Now her other knee is damaged, and we need help.

Tipsy was diagnosed with HD (hip dysplasia) in January 2018, and right after, we found that her ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) was torn. This required her to have a TPLO surgery, and also remove 80% of the meniscus in her knee. Our insurance company refused to pay, even though we met most of the requirements, because of a small overdue notice fee we hadn’t paid. We ended up having to take up a loan and pay 42 000 kr ($5,155) for the surgery + rehab.

June 23rd, the same thing happened on a late-night walk. Her ACL tore and she let out a painful shriek. We were all worried to death about the prognosis, and our thoughts were confirmed at her vet appointment the following Tuesday. Now her life depended on whether the insurance company would cover the cost or not. Thankfully, they will, but we still have to pay a 25% deductible of around 10 000 kr ($1,227). That excludes the costs of rehabilitation.

Tipsy is a great dog with so much joy and lust for life, and having to put her down would be a shame. She deserves so much more than we could possibly give her. The joy and excitement she has brought to our lives is unbelievable. Even now, when she can barely stand on her right leg, she won’t lie still and only wants to run, play, and be free. Tipsy is the light of our lives; we can’t give up now.
