We ( www.Facebook.com/NoDakotaAccessIndy ) have partnered with various groups at Standing Rock, mainly working with a family collective called RogueDwellings.com who have been making and living on the ground around the fire in tipis for longer than they have been a family. They are migratory and have set up shop at Standing Rock, by the Cannonball river, after hearing the call to come and protect the water and the land from corporate extraction and exploitation.
It became very clear that in order to maintain a strong presence through the winter months, solid shelter is essential.
As well as turning all and any fabric that arrives into tipis, linings; and ozans RogueDwellings have been repairing tipis of Standing Rock supporters that have been worn out or damaged by the winds.
There is also a wider intention to acquire more industrial treadle sewing machines so that more hands can make more shelters before (and even after) the North Dakota winter begins in earnest.
This service has given Andrew Blanchflower, founder of Rogue Dwellings, a chance to pay back a debt of gratitude he owes to tipi culture, and pass on the information of tipi making and living as it was passed on to him - freely.
They will keep producing and repairing Tipis as long as materials keep coming in.
And that is the point of this campaign; to keep generating funds through your donations to continue purchasing and shipping materials out, so they can keep making Tipis.
We have joined forces and focus with ROGUE DWELLINGS, MARK MOREY; Founder of Connected Leader, Co-founder of 8 Shields Institute, and currently active with the Institute for Natural Learning , TIM CORCORAN; Co-directed and Founder of Twin Eagles Wilderness School, and NOMADIC TIPIS out of Bend Oregon to make this all happen.
The majority of materials and poles being used for this project are being purchased from, supplied, and shipped to Standing Rock by a company called Nomadic Tipi Makers based out of Bend Oregon. They have offered us deep discounts and have been amazing in helping to make this all happen. Thank you Nicole!!! RogueDwellings and other groups have also contributed materials to making this happen.
Our GOAL is to continue to raise funds, tipis, heavy winter clothing, sleeping bags, and other critical needs to help keep the Water Protectors sheltered and warm through this winter.
