Tina DesJardins, loving mother with CRPS

Donation protected
Hello. This is Tina DesJardins. Tina is a wonderful and caring mother, wife, friend and faithful worshiper of Jehovah God.

Tina has always made it her goal to tell as many people as she could about the hope in the Bible. She has trained her three sons to be loving and compassionate to all people because that is what is most important to her. Her husband Dave is her primary caretaker as she has been housebound for quite some time, along with the help of her children and the local congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses. As a family we cannot express how much she means to us and how emotionally difficult it is to watch her suffer for as long as she has.

In 2009 she was diagnosed with an operable brain tumor after having bad migraines for some time. After the surgery she suffered from short term memory loss and her equilibrium was damaged but she was able to recover well from the operation.

Then in 2012 Tina was diagnosed with Pancreatitis which many people know can be very painful. It felt like anything she ate would make it flair up and cause great distress to her body. But after completely changing her diet and being extremely regimented about what she ate, even though it can not be cured, she was able to get her Pancreas to go into go into remission and have very little pain  associated with it. Tina still must stick to this very restrictive diet to this day.

Then in 2014 Tina sustained an injury to her shoulder...one she would never recover from. Tina loves to paint, draw and craft. One day when she was trying to complete a large sewing project she tore her rotator cuff. She thought it might be a torn muscle or that she just overused her arm and in a few weeks she would be ok. But those weeks turned into months and that soreness spread to her other arm. It took a long time of seeing specialists before a Dr. realized what she had and by then the disease had already spread to her nervous system. The very rare condition that she has is Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome. She has been diagnosed with CRPS along with other diseases that are common in conjunction with it.

Tina suffers in unimaginable pain every day and has been for about 4 years. Because there is no treatment for this disease all medical tests, medications, diagnostic procedures, physical therapy, etc. are NOT covered by insurance. She has tried a few non-invasive procedures but to no avail. CRPS has slowly and steadily taken over her entire body. She can not sit, stand, walk, or lay down without being in pain.

Today Tina is currently trying to get hospitalized treatment with Ketamine. The drug would hopefully suppress her nervous system enough to  relieve some of the pain she is in. Tina has been admitted a few times to the hospital through this ordeal and even morphine can not subdue her pain.  Ketamine is very expensive and very exhausting.  It requires a weeks stay at the hospital with drugs being delivered intravenously and constant monitoring of her vitals. When she is able to return home she will continue to need booster ketamine shots to keep her pain level down. None of this is covered by her insurance and it will cost them thousands and thousands of dollars that must be paid upfront before she can start the treatment. As her medical bills keep piling up she needs monetary support to fight this disease enough just to be somewhat comfortable. With your donations you can help keep Tina comfortable. She cannot have visitors anymore because just having any social interaction makes her whole body feel like it is on fire. This is the only thing modern medicine can do to possibly help her at this stage.

Tina has had a very difficult and very traumatic life and despite everything she is still fighting and with your support you can help her fight too. Thank you for taking the time to read this GoFundMe and donate.
