Help Tim Fight This Battle

Donation protected
My son Tim married his wife Colleen in 2013.  Life was good and they welcomed their beautiful son Timmy in 2015.  This happy life was abruptly interrupted when a huge weight loss and gastric issues sent Tim to the doctor in January, 2017.  For 4 months, test after test nothing until in April when a colonoscopy revealed a 10 cm mass in Tim's rectum.  A biopsy confirmed it to be a malignant tumor.  I was so scared when I heard that word, malignant.   My son Tim,  so young at the age of 36 has been diagnosed with rectal cancer.  Many  thoughts are now racing through my head; but I needed to take control and do what I can to help my child.

As a mother the best I can do for my son is to provide him support during his battle with cancer, starting with sharing his story.  As with any cancer, this is not an easy fight. Tim and Colleen met with an oncologist to understand how his rectal cancer is going to impact their lives and to understand what the treatment plan will be. The cancer is in Stage 3A with the tumor embedded some layers into the tissue and several lymph nodes are also  affected. A PET scan will be performed next week to check if the cancer has spread to any other parts of his body.  We are pray that the cancer has not spread to any other areas of his body.

Due to the size of the tumor the oncologist is recommending that Tim immediately receive  both chemotherapy and radiation to shrink the tumor before surgically removing it.  We are hopeful a colostomy bag will not be necessary after surgery. After the surgery has been completed another round of chemotherapy will begin. The entire treatment plan as of now will be 7 - 8 months. Hopefully by Christmas Tim will have beaten this cancer. That would make a great Christmas present!

Tim's job is all physical labor.  For the last six months Tim has pressed on despite being extremely tired and weak. After his diagnosis, the doctor has recommended that he should stop working as the physical nature of the job is too much for him in his condition. The family is doing the best they can to financially support Tim and Colleen during this time and make up for his lost wages and medical bills. They have insurance but high deductibles and out of pocket insurance costs still weigh heavily on them and the bills have already started to accumulate. I ask that you please donate as generously as you can to help Tim fight his cancer battle.  All donations will be used for incurred medical expenses and  lost wages, Our family is so grateful for all your love and support!
