Time For Tilara

Meet Tilara and let us explain the 'TIME FOR TILARA'S Trust'. Tilara is a beautiful intelligent, mischievous ,strong willed and determined 5 year old little girl who lives in Midleton Cork .Tilara has a brother Kayden and her little sister Svea . Tilara attends mainstream national school where she has made many friends which she absolutely adores and which would not be possible without the support of her full time SNA and the school.

At the age of 12 months we received the devastating diagnosis of her spastic diplegia cerebral palsy.

This condition of Tilara's restricts her movement of daily activities such as walking, sitting unaided, crawling, rolling and in general all activities most other 5 year old little girls and their parents take for granted.
However the biggest difficulty for Tilara and ourselves is that she experiences ongoing pain which she suffers and we see that it effects her daily life.
Her increased tone causes painful spasms which affects her sleep. Tilara wakes up numerous times during the night as a result of this pain thus affecting her ability to function to maximum capacity in her daily tasks.

Tilara has been accepted by DR T.S. Park to undergo the life changing opportunity to have SDR surgery in the USA.

SDR is a complex spinal surgical procedure that involves cutting some of the nerve fibers that cause the spasticity in Cerebral Palsy. This procedure eliminates or reduces spasticity in the legs
.
SDR is a very individual surgery, each child's outcome and case is very different. For Tilara the outcome us, her parents, desire hope and dream of is pain free life.The possibility of improved posture, more mobility, independently sitting on the floor, the ability to roll out of her own bed and standing/walking for short duration's with the aid of functional devices. All of these things are possible but we don't dare to dream of them, yet.

Tilara's surgery and post operative rehabilitation will cost €140,000.. The aim of Tilara's Time for Treatment is to raise this amount by August 2017 .
