***UPDATE: Thanks to the generosity of friends and family, I have raised enough money to pay for Kisare's tuition and provide additional money to his school. I would still encourage anyone visiting my page to contribute to my project. My Bar Mitzvah is coming up, and as a part of this, I am doing a Tikkun Olam project. Essentially, Tikkun Olam means to repair the world. For my project, I am raising money for a young boy my age to go to secondary school in Tanzania. His name is Kisare. My fundraising will allow him to get an education and build a better future for himself. I was drawn to this project not only because I felt a connection to him, being about my age, but also because I think it is unfair that any children are not able to get an education simply because of where they were born or what resources they have. In a perfect world, everyone would be able to get an education. Even though I cannot raise enough money to send every child to school, raising money for Kisare is something I can do to repair a little bit of the world and help create the world I want to live in.
My connection to Kisare is that I'll travel to Tanzania this summer. My grandparents started the tradition of taking each of my brothers on a trip with them for their bar mitzvahs. They are continuing this tradition with me this summer. I liked the idea of finding a project that related to Tanzania, and we reached out to our friend, who is helping us to set up the trip, about things I could do to make a difference in Tanzania. Our friend gave us a number of ideas, one of which was to help Kisare with his education. Once I heard about him, I knew I wanted to help.
I sincerely appreciate any donation. $35 will fund approximately one month of tuition. $275 will fund an entire year. My goal is raise enough money for three years, which will allow Kisare to complete his secondary education.
