Unfortunately, friends, we must reach out to you for another Galgo needing your help.
TIFO, a 4-year-old galgo had an operation in Spain to remove his eye. He needed the surgery because his eye was blind, and the doctor told them it was the result of being hit badly with an object. It was recommended that the eye be removed.
He flew over hear a few months ago and all was well until his adopter noticed his face did not look right. When she touched his surgical scar, it was all wet and spongy, and the dog was in serious pain.
After visits to the vet, and many tests, it was discovered that beneath the scar was some tissue that had not been removed by the first vet. Not only was it getting infected, but his tear ducts were sewn into the eye cavity, they were still producing tears and now he has an abscess, to add to the infection (and the pain).
He was rushed to a veterinary ophthalmologist here in Montreal, who will operate on the eye socket again, cleaning it out correctly, closing the tear ducts and finally properly closing the eye itself. As this operation requires a specialist it is adding up to be a very expensive venture.
So far, the estimate, not including post-operation antibiotics and re-checks is around $4000 Cdn.
I know we are all struggling with finances and trials and tribulations that life throws at us regularly, but any little bit you can spare will help with the cost of this.
I also know it is soon after our plea for Nanoo (and you can be happy to know that Nanoo’s Miracle Fund is being used to help Boheme, a foster galgo who needed a tail amputation – thank you all ♥♥)
