My friend the ticking time bomb.

Who: Sabby Hernadi (Szabolcs Hernádi)
What: Open Brain Surgery
Where: Berlin, Germany with Professor Peter Vajkoczy
When: As soon as possible. The importance of time cannot be underestimated
Why: To correct a growing aneurysm
How much: 34,500€

Sabby, a 35-year-old Hungarian friend, brother, son and partner, was abruptly diagnosed with a brain aneurism in 2016.

After excessive headaches, immense fatigue and the threat of paralysis, Sabby underwent his first brain surgery via neuro-interventional in 2017. The symptoms remain and a control MR angiogram test confirmed that the aneurysm has only grown larger.

In Hungary, a second neuro-interventional surgery was attempted this past April but the doctors discovered the risks are more severe than anticipated and aborted the surgery.
Now the plan outline by Hungarian doctors would entail permanently closing off another main artery (along with the aneurysm) in his brain.
However, his left major artery (carotid internal) which supplies blood to the brain directly from his heart is already permanently closed. This means he would depend solely on one thinner artery to get sufficient blood flow to his left cerebral hemisphere for the remainder of his life. There would be no backup plan.

Here are the facts.

The originally break down given by the doctors before the third neuro-interventional surgery: Sabby has some chance of full recovery, a chance of losing his ability to talk, a chance he could be permanently paralyzed on one half of his body from a stroke, induced by the surgery or a combination of these two. There is a chance of complete paralysis or even death.  But the reality was now even more severe. No matter the outcome he would depend solely on one artery.

Seeking a second option and exploring all options with immense help and support from his sister, Anita, the two worked out a plan.

Meanwhile, Sabby is a ticking time bomb.

After endless back and forth and gracious encounters Sabby found his solution. Prof. Peter Vajkoczy located in Berlin, Germany. One of the top five brain surgeons in Europe.  He is offering Sabby open brain surgery - a surgery not commonly offered in Hungary and with different risks.

●  While the planned Hungarian endovascular intervention is technically easier, the risk of getting a stroke is much higher and depends on the response of Sabby's circulation with one artery. A fatal stroke may happen within the critical one week after doctors close the artery along with the aneurysm, or at any point later in his life.

●  In contrast, the operation offered by Prof. Vajkoczy is technically more complex, but it would minimalize the chance of a fatal stroke. First of all, this operation allows closing the aneurysm isolated by clipping. In case if it’s not possible, Sabby could get a bypass, which means he would get another artery instead of losing one. This critical difference would secure his circulation and his life.

This type of surgical intervention (Cerebral bypass surgery with aneurysm clipping) is not available in Hungary. Sabby needs your help. This is why this Go Fund Me page was created.

Sabby feels hope, comfort, and trust in Prof. Vajkoczy. After personal meetings, research, conversation, and soul searching Sabby chooses to place his life in the hands of Prof. Vajkoczy.
