A New Thousandaires Album on Vinyl!

I've been wanting to issue an album on vinyl for as long as I can remeber. I still listen to vinyl almost exclusively while I'm at home. I love the artwork, the liner notes, all the room for information about the recording and most of all the warm sound of real records! It costs about twice as music to manufacture them and, ofcourse, we still need to make the album available on CD too.  We want to get this album in timely fashion and be in a positon to promote it properly, once we've got it in our hands and that's why we need your help.

I've been writing songs my whole life. I moved back to New Orleans about two years ago to start a family and raise my new son in the city I love. In my years as a musician in both New Orleans and New Yrok, I've worn a wide variety of hats , from jazz saxophonist for to singer songwriter and everything in between. My original music encompasses all of it. Roots, Rags and Rhythm - That is Rhythm and Blues, Early Jazz and Folk Music. This new album will be my third full length album of original music.

I'm really happy with my New Orleans line-up and I'm excited to be putting together a new album with my band The Thousandaires. We've already started recording and the music feels great. The band features Jasmine Butler, a protege of Russel Battiste, on drums, Elliot Slater, of The Stooges, on guitar, Joe Welnick on piano, and Justin Carlo Davi on bass. In addition to our working band, we've invited some amazing guests to be part of our record. Carolyn Broussard and Arsene Delay are both songwriters and band leaders in their own right and they've teamed up to add great backup vocals to our record. Lance Caruso and Latasha Bernice Covington play for one of my favorite Cajun bands, T'Canaille. We'll  be inviting additional horn players, organ and other guests to join us as move thorugh the recording process.

Here's a breakdown of the costs involved, based on our experience with our first three albums and our goals for the new one.
Recording: $1500
Mixing: $2000
Mastering: $600
Graphic Design: $500
Vinyl Pressing: $1500
CD Pressing: $1000
Radio Promotion Campaign: $1200
Public Relations: $1200
Total: $9500

I know that seems like a tall order, but we'll keep moving along with the project as we raise the funds. Ideally when we're done we'll be sending you all records instead of sending in credit card payments, and we'll be in the black and in  a postition to get out there and bring the music to new fans.

Nothing has brought me more satisfaction artistically than recording my original music and sending it out into the world. These records define me as an artist and they are my legacy and my imprint. Music has been my solace and my inspiration. Everytime, a fan reaches out to let me know my music has reached them, I know that all the hard work and sacrifice has been worth it.
