Thomu's fight against cancer

Donation protected
At the end of August, our dear friend and classmate Thomas Chacko was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

His symptoms began about 4 months ago when Thomas began experiencing foot, back and side pain. In a short period of time, the pain started to hinder simple everyday activities. Many that knew him were able to see the changes. By mid-summer, he decided to seek medical attention. Unfortunately, this visit only yielded inconclusive findings, a script for pain medication and only lead to more frustration. It was his sheer determination, mental fortitude, and perseverance that allowed him to rise above the physical ailments and complete his dream of earning his DPT.

On August 13th, 2016,  Thomas graduated from the University of St. Augustine where he received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy. After graduation, it was time to celebrate. Thomas and many of his classmates traveled to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico where everyone was able to kick back and have a great time celebrating such a huge accomplishment. However, Thomas was plagued with much discomfort.

Thomas was planning on staying in Texas until he took his National Physical Therapy Board Exam. Little did Thomas know Cancer had made other plans for him. After arriving back from vacation, Thomas had made a weekend trip to Houston, Texas to visit his cousin and family. While in Houston his pain became unbearable. Fortunately, his cousin convinced him to go to the emergency room at Houston Methodist Hospital thinking it could possibly be kidney stones  After days of testing, Thomas received his official diagnosis of Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma T-cell Rich - Stage 4. During his 26-day hospital stay, he received his first round of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

Currently, Thomas is very excited to start the next chapter of his journey and traveled back to New York the weekend  of September 25, where he will undergo all remaining treatment. Thomu is scheduled to receive care at Memorial Sloan Kettering.

Thomu is always willing to be there for a friend-or anyone-in need and never expecting anything in return for his trustworthy and unwavering friendship.

Although this situation is unwarranted and disheartening, we know his relentless commitment to success and triumph over any obstacle, his positive attitude to never give up and to keep fighting and his determination to give it everything he has will allow him to get through the path to complete healing.

It's time to show him how much he means to us and that he is not alone in this fight! This avenue was chosen in hopes that anyone who would like to donate to his fight has the opportunity to do so. Any funds raised will go directly to his medical expenses. If anyone is unable to make a donation at this time positive vibes, prayers and good juju are highly appreciated.

It will be a long journey, but he knows that no challenge is too great. #KickCancersASS #lymphomies #determined #positiveattitude #cancersucks
