Thomas needs a new Van!

You guys! Thomas is my dear 73 year old un-homed friend who has just completed chemotherapy and radiation for colorectal cancer.
We met three years ago at the Haywood Street Respite where he was recovering from surgery. Unfortunately, the van that he lives in is falling apart and has become very unreliable. In our country, one can get medical treatment more easily than one can find a place to live. He is on the list for housing but his number has not come up yet. Living in a shelter is a very bad option for someone who is immunocompromised. He is 73 years old and too old and frail to camp anymore. He needs a working vehicle that is drivable (he has to get to a lot of medical appointments) and that he can lay down in (he is 6'6"!). We think he can purchase one for a few thousand dollars.
The money will go to a separate account that is under my name. Once we have enough money, I will help him purchase the car/van.
If you could please spare $5-$10 we could make this happen quickly for him. It is getting cold out there!!!
He is very self-reliant and is somewhat embarrassed by his need, but also acknowledges that he is pretty desperate right now. He is a total sweetheart and is humbled by my offer to set this up for him and asks me to say "Thank you very much!"
