$2,425 of $4,000 goal

The Theta Theta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi is raising money to support a number of our efforts for this academic year, the top 3 being our Disaster Relief Fund, the Miss Kappa Alpha Psi Pageant Scholarship, and the Edgar Lee Chinn Memorial Scholarship.

Following the devastating wildfires across the state of California, the brothers on the yard would like to host a donation cookout, and set up a disaster relief fund for those impacted. Last year in our Disaster Relief Fund efforts, we were able to raise over $2000 for the U.S. Virgin Islands. We hope to have similar success this year.

The scholarship awarded in the name of Miss Kappa Alpha Psi will be awarded to the young ladies who show the highest level of unmatched poise, divine intellect, and alluring grace in the 2018 Miss Kappa Alpha Psi Pageant. The scholarship is designed to support young women studying at the University of Maryland seeking financial assistance in order to continue their education. Recipients shall be from diverse backgrounds and may use the awarded scholarship for school related expenses including (but not limited to):  tuition, room & board, books/supplies, study abroad, and parking expenses.

The scholarship awarded in the name of the late Brother Edgar Lee Chinn shall be awarded to a graduating senior at Frederick Douglass High School. The recipient must demonstrate the values of community service, strong work ethic, and a solid academics. Brother Chinn served as an assistant principal at Frederick Douglass High School, for 10 years, dedicating his career to ensuring that these students were properly prepared for the life ahead of them. The scholarship will be awarded based on a letter of recommendation from faculty/staff at the school, resume, demonstration of community involvement and extracurricular activities, a minimum 3.5 GPA, and a 300-word essay explaining why the applicant believes they deserve this scholarship and how he/she demonstrates the values that Brother Chinn embodied.  Recipients shall be from diverse backgrounds and may use the awarded scholarship for school related expenses including (but not limited to): tuition, room & board, books/supplies, study abroad, and parking expenses.

Those who would like to donate may specify what your donation is being made for or leave a general donation. We appreciate the constant support and will continue to do work on behalf of the community!
