I have to be honest, the success of the well pump water project in the Sheka wedi Bisrat has made me very proud of myself and all who were involved in making my project a reality. But I know very well that this is just the beginning, and that more is to come. As I have informed you all in my past interviews and posts, my vision for the Retaw Project is to be an ongoing project, a lasting commitment than a one-time accomplishment. Hence the launching of the second project. The second phase of the Retaw Project is to extend the water pump line all the way to the school’s compound and vicinity. The aim of this project is to give the students an easy and safe access to a water source without exposing them to any risks. This project will allow students to have an access to clean water right in their school compound and vicinity. According to the Water Development and Supply Division from the Ministry of Water, Land and Environment, the estimated cost for the completion of this project is $ 40,000 and is expected to be finished within a year. The parents and the villagers are happy to help with the manual work of the site preparation and clearing of the removal of the topsoil and excavating for the stone foundation trench to accomplish the task in time and with minimal cost. But I still need to raise the $40,000 to cover the actual cost of the machinery and materials supplies to install all necessary materials with accessories and equipment required to connect the distribution pipe. Once again all journeys begin with single steps and I am launching the second phase of the project while multitasking school works, studies and college entry preparations and on the other hand managing a smooth transferring of the proposed project into an action and a reality that will elevate the burdens of these students.
