A few years ago, we joined Fitbit to stay healthy. On our journey we have walked miles together. We have created a network of other like-minded individuals near and far. Last year, in a quest to push ourselves we walked 50,000 steps. This year, our goal is 65,000, which gets us a Fitbit Ruby Red Slippers badge (thus our theme)! After last year, we decided to take our goal to the next level and make it meaningful to others beyond ourselves. Missy’s family has experienced the love and support of the Ronald McDonald House of Ann Arbor while one of her children was hospitalized for a considerable length of time. Thanks for your support. More information about Ronald McDonald House of Ann Arbor (Ronald McDonald House Charities of Ann Arbor): Our mission is to provide a "home away from home" for families of children experiencing a serious illness or injury requiring hospitalization. Our program provides accommodations and support services to over 1,200 families each year, ensuring that they are better placed to cope and help their child heal. The Ronald McDonald House of Ann Arbor opened in 1985 and has served over 25,000 families through 2017. We have two Houses; the Main House has 29 bedrooms with private baths, living areas, play areas, laundry and kitchen facilities, and is across the street from Michigan Medicine's C.S. Mott Children's Hospital. The House Within the Hospital has 12 rooms near the NICU and PICU, for the families whose children are too medically fragile for them to be more than steps away from their bedside. Families normally live at least and hour's distance from Ann Arbor. About fifteen per cent come from out of state. There is no charge to the families, and they stay as long as their child is hospitalized.
