1 race, 9 men, 2 charities

Hello everyone, thanks for taking the time to visit our  page.

 9 of us have decided to take on the RAT Race, a 20 mile obstacle course, dubbed "the toughest obstacle course on the planet".   We are doing this to raise money for 2 charities close to our hearts; the Neil Fyfe foundation and CLAN house in memory of Pamela Soutter.

The RAT race is on the 6th May so its the last throw big push to get the training in!!!!!

 So bit of information on each charity;

 The Neil Fyfe Foundation was set up after Neil was tragically killed by a drunk driver in America.  Neil was achieving his dream of making it as a caddy in the US.  Neil was cycling home one night and as he crossed a 3 lane road at a pedestrian crossing, tragically only 2 cars stopped, the 3rd didn't. To say the news was crushing to his family, close friends and the community he grew up in, is an understatement. Neil's family created the Neil Fyfe Golf Foundation and donated proceeds from his funeral into the foundation which is operated by the Paul Lawrie Group. Paul Lawrie is a successful local golfer and was saddened to hear about Neil's story. The foundation was created to continue the American connection where Neil fulfilled his dreams and more. The NFGF foundation offers young local talent the chance to be granted an American Scholarship state side and try to fulfill their own dreams. The foundation helps with equipment, flights, accommodation and everything the young prospects might need in their pursuit of greatness. So far the foundation has raised £11,000 in the time its been its been fund raising.

 The 2nd charity is CLAN House, this charity was picked Alan Soutter who tragically lost his wife Pamela Soutter in April 2016 after a 2nd battle with Cancer.

 Pamela was diagnosed with breast cancer early 2013 and initially had a great outlook with a lumpectomy and chemotherapy. However in early 2015 we  received the devastating news that the disease had returned and after just over a year of trying various treatments her life was tragically taken on the 19th of March 2016. From the very first diagnoses Pamela showed outstanding courage and continued with this attitude until the very end. At times she was more concerned with raising awareness and money for charities than she was with her own wellbeing, raising over £20,000 during her various campaigns. Clan was a charity that was very close to our heart as they provided amazing emotional support for our family especially our 2 young children as they struggled to come to terms with what she was going through. 

 CLAN cancer support is a well-established local charity providing emotional and practical support to people affected by Cancer across north-east of Scotland, moray, Orkney and Shetland. They offer a relaxed, welcoming & caring environment both at CLAN house and around several other bases in the city. Over the last 30 years CLAN has developed specialist knowledge and understanding of how a diagnosis of cancer impacts not only the person but the wider family circle.

 We have decided on a gofundme page because as a team we wanted to raise money for both charities equally. On other charity websites we were not able to have 1 page that split the donations evenly across both charities, this way the team will split the money equally across both charities...............which really is the main objective of putting ourselves through 20 miles of pain :)
