Therapy Tricycle for Lay

Meet Alazia, better known as Lay. At the age of three, she suffered a severe brain injury and stroke and lost her ability to walk. Lay is a true fighter. She consistently amazes the experts as she strives to improve her motor skills and regain muscle control. Lay could greatly benefit from this adaptive tricycle to exercise muscles she needs to strengthen to reach physical milestones.

Meet Cierra, Lay's mom. Cierra is my former student, and the best mother I know. She gave birth to three beautiful daughters. One day her world changed when Lay, her middle child, suffered a stroke due to brain trauma. In that moment, Cierra's world changed.

Lay needed a warrior to battle for her life, and Cierra was right there. Lay's recovery became her driving force. Cierra has returned to school to become a nurse to not only provide for her girls, but also to best care for Lay. In my nearly thirty years in teaching, Cierra stood out to me as a brilliant student, and her brilliance as a mother is even more amazing. She is the epitome of someone making lemonade when life handed her lemons. Her optimism for Lay's recovery guides all of us rooting for Lay.
