The Powerhouse Co-operative
A unique co-operative offering parents an affordable workspace, where their children can be cared for close by.
Why do we currently have to choose between a career and raising a family? To do both often requires us setting up a home business, so we can personally still care for our children and take advantage of the flexibilities that running a home business offers.
HOWEVER
The rewards of having your own business, contributing financially to your family and having your children at home are often outweighed by the isolation, the near constant stress, and endless distractions.

Imagine waking up, going through the morning routine, however upon walking out your door along with the Nappy Bag you grab your handbag and laptop. You might also be doing a school run. You then drive to a
Co-working space that you will be working out of for the day. As you arrive you check your child in with a nanny who will care for your little one whilst you work. In a space that allows you access to your child any time you or they need. After your child is settled you grab a coffee from the onsite café, and settle into your workspace. You turn your laptop on and begin your High Productivity workday. You may spend lunch collaborating with another member. You may take advantage of a class or workshop that is being offered that day, you may even grab a yoga session as you end your day and get ready to do the school run. ALL ONSITE. Imagine a large open plan space with amazing energy of other like-minded mums and dads. Well this isn’t a dream. This is the reality we are building. This also doesnt have to be somewhere to run your own business out of? Imagine being able to sell this to your current Employer? You can still retain your position if it allows for you to work remotely etc. And your skills are not just going to waste.
Who am I?
Hi, Im Aimee, a local Noosa mums with a dream, a vision and a whole lot of passion. I currently run my own businesses from home and felt that when it comes to mums returning to the workforce there is a missing link, a missing connection. I want to bridge that gap with The Powerhouse Co-op.
This is Revolutionary. This is affordable. Lets make this a reality.
I and the community need your help. We need to raise 50K to get this project up off the ground. If this is something you would like to support, get behind, would love to see for the future then we welcome your support. Big and small we are grateful for it all. This is a community initiative and you all are part of this dream.

All you need to do is register your interest and I will send an application out to you. Once we are open, I will then contact all the people who have filled out an application. They will have the first option of obtaining a membership. There are only 50 available for the first Powerhouse Space, once open the next one will get underway, then the next, then the next until there is a space like this in every town Australiawide.

Q: What happens if you don’t make your goal of 50k?
A: Along with this crowd funding campaign govt grants are also being applied for as well as seeking outside investment. I don’t intend to stop until we have reached the goal. Your backing and support can certainly help this process.
Q: What will you be spending 50K on?
A: The 50K will all be going towards start up. The website, software, security, Permits and onsite Insurances, The fitout and first 6 months Rent and running costs.
Q: Why should we invest in you?
A: This is a valid question; one I would be asking myself having not met me. However it’s The Powerhouse you are investing in, not me. I am simply the Visionary, the one up until 3am writing and rewriting submission plans, going over presentation meetings. Why am I spending a ridiculous amount of time on this outside of my existing workload? Because I am passionate and dedicated to making this happen. Upon meeting me you will learn this right away. We are all mums, we are business owners and Entrepreneurs, I know we all want this for the community at large.
Q: When will it be open?
A: The goal is to be open before Christmas
Q: Is this only for women?
A: The Powerhouse is predominantly for work from home parents, so mums and dads, however the space is open to everyone.
Q: If I fill out an application form does that mean that I have to take a workspace once its open?
A: No absolutely not. Filling out an application, only registers your interest with The Powerhouse. This means you will be among the first contacted, with an offer of a Membership should you need one.
Q: What is your credentials and experience in taking on a project on like this?
A: Again absolutely valid question, a brief background.
I run a business from home called Sherriff and Co Design, this is an innovative Interior Design Business specializing in both residential and commercial design. I understand commercial development and have the background and experience of commercial fit out. I gained a lot of the expericence from previously owning and operating a Design Studio in New Zealand, which I sold before moving with my family to Australia. Im a go-getter, a Networker and a Visionary. And a teeny bit persistent. Ok a lot!!!
Q: I love it, how can I be a part of The Powerhouse?
A: You can follow The Powerhouse on the FB Page and Instagram page to keep up to date with the progress, you can donate to the Go Fund Me page. Come and join the community by coming along to a Fortnightly Powerhouse Networking Meeting of Mums and Dads, networking to grow their existing business. These will continue onsite once the premises are open.

In our families, friends and acquaintences passing us two dollars or five and helping us make this a reality for parents, right around Australia. The first Powerhouse space will be based in Noosa but the plan is to have these spaces all across Australia. We would love to have you come on board and be part of this journey, to see this really funky space take shape.
