We are Staircase Theatre and we will be producing an original new play, the world premiere of The Hunger Room by Scott Button , in May 2017.
This is a piece that has been in the works for years, with a workshop production 4 years ago at UBC, multiple script rewrites, work with a dramaturg, and now the full production. We're really excited about it.
We are a non profit company and have written 5 grants for this show. We have received none of them. We are reaching out for your help to fundraise some of the difference so we can make this show happen. Basically, we are about $5000 short. This is an Equity Indie 2.2 contract, meaning we are paying the actors and team a weekly wage. Also, this show has quite an involved set and that will require funds to make happen. We have an amazing Production Designer in Daniel van Heyst and we are confident this show will be off the scales awesome, if we have the resources to do it.
We are fundraising in other ways as well, in a clothing drive coming and seeking sponsorships. We'd really appreciate any help you can give, be it monetary or just spreading the word.
