The Field: A Play By Emily Emerson

Hello! My name is Emily Emerson. I wrote a play called The Field, and I have the pleasure of accepting an invitation to the Broadway Bound Theatre Festival this summer in New York City. The Play Itself:
The town of Avon, Virginia is in trouble. With the local furniture plant closing down, hundreds of residents are now out of work. They need a miracle. One morning, a mysterious crop circle appears in a local field and with it, a series of unexplainable events that force the citizens of the town to confront the question: do miracles exist? And what do you do with one when you get it?


I can do this...
I am a former producer with a small professional theatre company in North Carolina and I know how to produce quality theatre on a shoestring budget.  Now I get to execute those skills on a piece of my own work. In addition to being a producer, I am a professional actor (AEA), director,  and adjunct college professor (High Point University and Elon University) with an MFA and BFA in Acting.

Over the years I've developed strong partnerships with a large network of friends and industry professionals that believe in me and my creative vision. Some of these friends have been instrumental in the development of The Field over the past year and are just as determined and excited as I am to take the next step and see this story brought to the New York stage. This is what we need...
The Festival awards participants three performances in the lovely 14th Street Y Theatre in New York City, insurance, ticketing services, tech support, and marketing. This is an INCREDIBLE jumpstart for any new play -- particularly in New York City where rent alone can make a production all but impossible for small entities. Now we need to bring them a show!  Our expenses will include:

Talent
Travel/Housing for Creative Team 
Production Costs (sets, costumes, & props)
