The Field running costs
The Field is an independent, co-operatively run social and educational project, that is not-for-profit and run by its members. Through local political action, radical education, mutual care, solidarity, shared resources and collective service provision, The Field creates a space to explore alternatives to the inequality, competition and exploitation of capitalism. We have negotiated the use of the space for a 5 year rent free period. The Field acts as a collective of members who work together to organise events, workshops, campaigns and projects as well as serving as a venue for groups, events and projects that share our purpose.
We get some running cost money from our weekly pay-what-you-can dinner, which usually only just covers electricity and council tax. However, we need more than this amount if we want to cover more costs such as printing, tools for maintenance and start new projects from our newly formed projects group. The Field collective wants to use this new working group to enact a collective kind of service provision, projects that give something to the neighbourhood and that address an identified need, that provide opportunities for participation for members, users and residents, and that produce other economies, i.e. alternative ways of addressing needs, alternative values and practices beyond simply capitalistic or charity service provision models.
If you use and love The Field, or simply want to support an autonomous space which is trying to do things differently, please donate some money to keep us going. Thank you! The Field collective.
