Ascendant Games is a (future) startup currently created and run by myself, Carlo Junior Wisse. I am aiming to bring the next generation of gaming/simulation interactivity to the world.
Ascendant Games’ main project is called "The Domain" - a hyper realistic virtual reality where players interact using their own hands and body. It is powered by Virtual Reality Headsets and the Leap Motion Controller along with a selection of other new to market and some experimental controllers. I aim to develop control methods for all major and some experimental interactive controllers so that anyone's budget can fit the game. In time I hope to be able to bring on another contracted developer.

When/If the amount is reached I will be keeping the fund open for future development along the way if anyone would wish to help fund it on-going. The support is going to mean a lot for me, I will be able to further build upon my dream to create a new form of game, interaction and collaboration platform.
How will I use the funds?
I have a very strong drive to get this completed and it would be great to be able to upgrade and acquire some hardware and software. At the moment I am investing most of my time for free and investing most of my spare money where I can. 100% of all money raised will be going directly to this project and its resources needed, I won't be taking any of it as a payment for my time, I would like to use the funds to get the ball rolling on this project while still working. The funds will go towards new in-game assets, software licencing, music and sound production, hardware upgrades and hardware acquirement. At the moment what I have is limiting me from moving forward in the development of this Game/Simulation.
More about the game and idea:
The idea of The Domain is to let users meet up in a massive multiplayer online universe where they are free to explore, hunt, fight, relax and so much more. The simulation mechanics allow you to level up and with each level up get access to different clothes, armour, weapons and abilities. I want players to feel totally immersed and all powerful, if you want to control fire you can, if you want to shoot plasma bullets you can and anything else in-between.
Throughout the universe there are hidden objects that fall under different categories, some so rare it may take a while to find them and may take a challenge or two to obtain. Once one of these objects are used they are reset and randomly re-placed into the universe for someone else to find.
Think of The Domain like an entirely new world and universe except you can breathe in space, you can fly anywhere and you can create your own planet. The game is controlled by an economic system, simply being “coins”, these allow you to buy new items for your avatar, weapons, abilities and more. You are able to trade any of your gear with others for either coins or some of their items.
Genesys is the place you spawn into and go to when you die, think of it like heaven. However, if you do zero out you will be completely zeroed out. The aim of the game is not to die. This is how the death mechanics work:
You get spawned to Genesys
Lose all coins
Lose all artifacts
Lose all relics
Lose all lvl points for current level (if you are lvl_45 and are almost at lvl_46 you will reset to base lvl_45)
Lose all weapons and abilities
Keep avatar customisation items
Reset to base weapons and abilities
Don't worry though scavenging to get your items back almost always has luck on your side you will be driven to explore and find your next load-out and stash.
The aim of the simulation is to LIVE a more adventurous and less limited life. You can catch up with friends and explore, or go on a hunt for artifacts, relics, gear and more, or perhaps just come into The Domain and have a chat while designing different avatar skins. Your level determines your armour, health regeneration and which weapons and abilities you can use/upgrade. If you are a lvl_99 and manage to die you will be reset to level 1.
The Axiom engine is what governs the world from spatial audio to realistic destructive physics, ragdoll, dismemberment, weather, gravity and more. I am hard at work creating procedural engines for a lot of components in the game. From procedural weapons, hairdos, weather, seasons, landscapes, storylines, items and a lot more. Everytime you enter The Domain and go exploring you will almost always see something different or have something new to find, collect and use.
For the record, design and semi development has been ongoing for two and a bit years, mostly experimental but getting there. The realistic gun mechanics and more have been developed just getting refined. The Domain used to be called Ascendant Reality but underwent a name change and a shift in base idea earlier this year. I am now going for a full massive multiplayer online reality rather than a single player experience. However, through the years (hopefully in the early start of next year) I will release an Alpha version.
At the moment I am looking for just enough money to upgrade my hardware and software to further test/develop interactions and graphics. As I am just starting, I have poured a lot of my own savings, pay checks and time into what is already there but need a bit of a boost to get it all flowing again. The money I gain from this campaign will be used to purchase some new equipment like GPUs, motion capture suit, graphical assets, licensing and music production among a few other needed resources.
The future:
In the future I hope to fully create a startup that will have a team of developers, designers, marketing, story-writers and testers. For now I have been working mostly by myself on this project for two years with a bit of contracting help, here and there. any and all financial boosts will be greatly appreciated and will not go wasted.
