The Chemodarkroom: A Short Film

Donation protected
I am making a short film about rediscovering the body after chemotherapy. This is something not a lot of survivors talk about, and I would like to shed some light on the topic and open a conversation. Maybe there are some survivors out there who need to see this film!

My birthday is 19.12. Want to give me a fabulous birthday? Contribute to my film!

I am commited to a D.I.Y. aesthetic, doing things in an ethical and affordable manner. Every person working on the film, crew and performers, are volunteer. The money I am trying to raise is soley to pay for location, equipment, transportation and catering. Any money raised beyond the funding goal will go toward post production.
I am writing, directing and producing this film, as well as handling the post-production. Shooting is on thte 27th of January and funds must be raised by January 15th.

Project description:
After a cancer diagnosis, life becomes a series of appointments, procedures and treatments. In order to destroy the cancer, medical professionals kill you so you may live. Chemotherapy robs a person of themselves physically and destroys the mind-body connection. During cancer treatment, one is constantly disassociating from their body so doctors and nurses can do painful or uncomfortable things in order to “help” them.
After a successful treatment, the cancer is gone, and the person who has gone through the treatment is supposed to be better, to return to life. But one of the things that makes a human whole has been broken. How do we restore our ability to participate in our own bodies, to have intimate encounters? How do we include the sexual self in healing when we have lost touch with our physical existence? How do we restore ourselves to touch, to comfort with Eros, when we don't have the husband, wife, partner, to remind us of our physical selves?
Cruising, darkrooms, voyeurism and anonymous touch can be a step toward self-discovery. Is being surrounded by intimate encounters a catalyst toward participation in such encounters or just a way to increase one's sense of isolation?

I will investigate this untouched subject through the medium of a short film using footage from my own cancer treatment, a choreographed darkroom scene, and self-generated poetry.
