The Art House is an art school in Chicago providing fine arts instruction and exhibition opportunities for developing and practicing artists. The Art House values the creative process and supports artistic endeavors with insight, instruction and opportunities personalized to meet the needs and goals of artists at every stage of their career.

From the range of art classes offered, to the exceptional exhibitions, to the meaningful educational experiences, The Art House provides the opportunity for artists of all backgrounds and skill levels to explore their creative endeavors.

100% of your contribution to The Art House Scholarship Campaign go to a new program that has been created out of need. The Scholarship fund will enable artists of limited means who seek the exact kind of multifaceted support provided by The Art House, to have an opportunity to receive the foundation and experience needed to make their dream of being a professional artist come alive. Scholarships will be competitive, with applications reviewed by a panel comprised of The Art House Director and the Artist's in Residence.

Examples of emerging artists who will greatly benefit from your kindness and generosity:
Recent BFA graduates seeking the practical training to launch a career in the arts,
Artists who are self-taught with limited resources, and/or,
Those who are returning to art-making after a long absence; passionate and dedicated, but unable to finance high quality art instruction.

By making a contribution, you provide vital support for emerging artists who need the exact kind of education offered at The Art House. These courses, residencies, exhibitions and other professional development trainings provide serious artists with the nuts and bolts of what it takes to launch a career in the visual arts.

As The Art House continues to support developing artists, we seek  generosity of  someone just like yourself, who realizes how critical art and art education is to our well being, as individuals and as a community.

Message from The Art House Director, Rebecca George:
"The specialness of being a beginner as an artist is something we hopefully always maintain"“but the first step is to tune into the curiosity within you that strikes a cord in your motivation to move forward"“and then follow whatever kindles the curiosity that propels you forward into learning.

Our natural state is liberation; in one way or another, we all seek the path, the permission to be truly ourselves. Find a teacher"“an advisor"“a guide"“even if it's a book that speaks to you"“and discover the special place inside of you calling out for nurturing and expression. That is the beginning."

Direct from artists of The Art House:
"I'd been looking to find more structure in my creativity and struggling with finding the right kind of environment, the right kind of class. And I think that what I ended up finding here is even more than I could possibly have dreamed of. I like the small class, the attention, perfect combination of challenge and support. Great community."
Alex Riepl, Artist

"The critique sessions are beyond amazing! In just a couple of minutes Rebecca zoomed in on the essential aspects of each person's painting, saw encouraging trends and gave valuable advice on what to try next to promote growth. At the beginning stage we can be so tentative and dissatisfied with our own work, and Rebecca's input is so helpful."
Abhi Ganju, Artist

"After a fifteen year hiatus from painting, I was pretty frustrated and mildly guilt-ridden for not having picked up a paint brush in so long. After my very first AH class, I walked away with a sense of invigoration that might just fuel the next fifteen years of painting. Rebecca is blessed with one of the rarest gifts there is -- attention. Her instruction is infused with her philosophy that the lessons to be learned are in your work; that to value and connect with your best work, it helps to tolerate the uncertainty, embrace the mistakes, notice what really happens when you work, and set aside all fears. To look, listen and see. Thanks to stumbling upon The Art House, the contact I now have with my work is more engaging than it's ever been. From an emotional standpoint, an intellectual standpoint, and a technical standpoint. In very short order, I'm now committed and open to exploring my practice -- one blank canvas after the next."
Beth Borum, Artist

"These courses are a great way to take stock of your painting, clarify your goals and direction and get insightful feedback. It helped me improve my engagement in the painting process with less fear of the final result. Rebecca's teaching style is provocative while remaining positive and supportive."
Ginger Ware, Artist

"Rebecca has an intuitive approach to teaching. Her in-depth experience allows her to gauge rather quickly what direction a student needs to take to further his/her growth as an artist. Rebecca challenges her students to stretch beyond their comfort zones, creating increased confidence and rapid progression in their abilities."
Cheryl Beck-Ruff, Artist

I promised two dedicated artists from The Art House community that I would do everything I could to raise enough money to grant them scholarships toward their next semester. One artist is working long hours but making a meager income, another--retired, and on a very fixed and limited income. Please help me pull together the tuition funds on their behalf before the Spring semester begins. It means the world to an artist who is growing from community, instruction and encouragement in a small, caring, studio environment. Thank you for reading!
