THE ART BAR SAN FRANCISCO GALLERY & JAZZ CLUB
THE ART BAR San Francisco, a sister company of The Art Bar Maui; an ongoing youtube vid that's becoming a community television show on AkakuTV in 2018-19.
Currently, through "PROJECTWALL ROADTRIP" our lead Muralist has been promoting Hawaii Mural Arts on the road this year traveling in the name of art, sustainability, and bringing awareness with the help of other artists in communities across the United States. (This year Mishel traveled to Georgia, Los Angeles, Oahu, Maui, and next month will be heading to Utah!) Co-Founder; Mishel Narvaez, is touring around mainland & overseas to gather artists and interviews to add to community tv on Maui upon her final return. Goal is to link artists overseas and promote their artworks as much as possible. All members will have the opportunity to travel overseas and have use of gallery/studio space obtained through fundraising and sponsorships in San Francisco and in Hawaii. Support is crucial to the future of HMA and ProjectWALL "Wall Artists Linking Lands."
This fundraising roadtrip is also to raise funds for "Paint4Pens" a ProjectWALL fundraiser developed by a Maui-based nonprofit; Hawaii Mural Arts. Profits from the traveling art shows and exhibitions will be donated to creating a location for diabetics to go for assistance in obtaining insulin--LIFE SAVING--pens AT NO COST!!
The Art Bar San Francisco will be a location for artists from around the world to network and create art supported by our nonprofit. Artists are expected to donate percentages to nonprofit from art sales inside of gallery and at art shows or "HI-WALL EXHIBITIONS." This support from artist/memberships helps keep gallery going. Location also provides a location where all diabetics can obtain information and receive assistance in staying healthy and living long productive stress-free lives!! While on the road throughout the year, we will need a location to send pens for storage and pickup, artists to sign up, sponsors to meet with artists, site for community gmo-free garden,----AND display art from contributing artists across America who will be donating their beautiful creations to help raise funds for HMA to continue our efforts annually.
Our gofundme request is to help us with 1st/last months rent, deposit, and electric/water/trash/utilities/move-in costs. Rent is estimated between $3K-$4K, utilities for the year between $2K-$2200. Our potential landlord has offered to include use of an outdoor space if we maintain area annually, we agreed. We are hoping for a move in date for : AUG 2018.
Mahalo for helping HMA establish its first location for mainland US in San Francisco, California in 2018. And for your efforts to make diabetic pens free for insulin dependent patients in America.

This is a great opportunity to meet new artists and hopefully gain support for ProjectWALL Roadtrip. After April’s Raw Artist event, rain or shine, we roll out! I’m hoping I can afford marketing materials to pass out or may just have enough for one T-shirt to wear lol! But I’m determined to pull out all the stops to get the support this organization will need to keep going in 2019. Also, I’m painting live this whole week on my Facebook page! All live paintings aka “wrapping paper” will be for sale by minimum donation or minimum ticket purchases. Mahalo nui loa & mahalo for kokua to everyone overseas & here on the mainland!
I’m getting ready for first show of 2019! A few changes since last post; was told I can’t claim The Art Bar SF as nonprofit until 501(c)(3) is complete....and since organizations still at seed level, we need to keep fundraising this year and I will need to accept full responsibility for all taxes, yay for me /: But I’m determined and not giving up. So I’m planning one more year of getting back on the road here on the mainland and putting my island life on hold again. I’m excited about traveling on the road but it’s the working three jobs that takes away from fun time traveling with my art. And having alittle dog makes it even harder to work full time....so where does that leave paint time? Yep, lotsa sacrifices ahead, but worth it to see local art expand across the states! One day we will have doors stay open permanently and our goal to link artists will be met with pride! We can build our communities back through grassroots art n education!!
FIRST PROJECTWALL DESTINATION : UTAH!!
I’m asking for your donations this year to keep our fundraising efforts going as we head to our first destination in 2019—Salt Lake City Utah!! After traveling in a little sedan last year, we are realizing more that we desperately need a reliable-sleep4-vehicle-conversion to travel in while we offer pop-up shows n galleries this year. This year we are using most of our savings for purchasing an RV, STEPVAN, TRAILER, CAMPER, look for links here and my website (regarding ProjectWALL) to help us find our vehicle...I can fly to drive it back to California & we are open to transportation of your RV too. Still working on adding a separate page showing all details at my website. Stay tuned, I’m just getting this year started!
WANT TO MEET ME IN PERSON?

Let me know exactly where and how you are wanting to help. WE ARE ALWAYS ACCEPTING NEW MEMBERS AND WELCOME ALL ARTISTS TO COLLABORATE WITH US ALONG OUR TRAVELS! (((:

Aloha & Mahalo Nui!
Also, I’m back to blogging in February on my blog ‘The Other Side...’ can’t wait to start interviews again with more artists in 2019! DONT FORGET TO CHECK FOR UPDATES HERE AND AT MISHELNARVAEZ.COM
Well, I’m sorry to announce we had to pause our renovations for a massive plumbing issue...causing major damages to ceiling where equipment would be installed. Our landlord was not aware of the severity and made arrangements to store our things until we can figure out next move, which is stay and keep fundraising or relocate and lose more money with move in costs; hauling, more renovations, etc.
I’m exhausted trying to hold on and although I’m excited about this location, I’m not able to wait with no place to work. I have to survive and can not carry a major corporation with my own personal funds. Without MAJOR help with startup costs, I am not going to gamble any more of my personal savings. I’ll cover things that may surface like plumbing issues, but having to cover rent and nonprofits regular bills is just impossible at this time.
I’m hanging in there though and so are the artists here in SF, it’s been a tough ride. When gallery was open last month, the community was extremely supportive and welcomed gallery with open arms! We started having art classes, events, and bam plumbing started leaking water from upstairs to a point of filling a 5gallon bucket every hour! We immediately moved all things out and were forced to close doors due to safety concerns. Everything just stopped and art on San Bruno Avenue ceased.
I’m working 2 jobs to save more money to reopen doors in time for Halloween. We are planning one last attempt to save this location and either reopening strong or continue with fundraising and looking for sponsors.
We currently have big plans for offering a haunted house fundraiser event next door to gallery. We are hoping to have ticket donations help with the reopening of gallery by December (and a grand opening Santa would be proud of!)
Please consider a donation to help bring back art to the Portola community in San Francisco and the first Haunted House “Nightmare On San Bruno Ave” that includes raffle for an original artwork valued at $1200!
With your support, we can continue offering our free art classes to the highschools and elementary schools in SF too!
Mahalo nui loa for kokua (:

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF ART IN COMMUNITY (:
Quick update; lights and outlets are working! And 2 buckets of paint were donated by our landlord (she’s a sweetheart! Even stopped by last night to help me scrap floors!) We ended around 4am this morning...it’s almost 9:30am now and heading back to finish ceilings and build tables from pallets dropped off by an awesome dude who volunteered to bring us 9! We are so thankful connecting with more community here and gaining more support prepping for art show next weekend...Gallery is looking better every day! Privacy curtains still need to be sewn....bringing in industrial sewing machine tonight. Once tables are done, a mopping is completed, we can let everyone peek in windows as space is filled with local art! Support is crucial to keep space going...landlord is being flexible waiting for the deposit and orgs updated documents...especially need fees covered for 501(c)(3) as items are being purchased that we are told could’ve been free if we had updated business docs. We “mahalo” everyone showing support here—-this funding site is important for offering link where sponsors in community (and www! ) can add more minimum ($5) donations.
To be clear, donations from now until event will currently be for;
Business docs renewal fees
Sealant for flooring
Deposit + Rent
PG & E Deposit + 1st month
Wood for building seating
Well back to building and will be promoting later at an event we were invited to pass out flyers at. Again, mahalo nui loa to everyone out there for your donations and support!! (:
GOFUNDME UPDATE: Although the update is bitter sweet; signed for the art studio space, hopeful and appreciating this journey so far....BUT because I used personal funds (was going to use for a vehicle), to secure the location for The Art Bar SF...now the challenge is to open on time and secure location. After lumber/linens/oils/tattoo supplies/garden tools/paint/etc...theres little left for what we are still seeking; funds to help with utilities, marketing materials, advertising, road trip gear, and vehicle to begin ProjectWALL "Paint4Pens" road trip asap. Landlords are being super flexible and encouraging by donating extra furniture---AND a refrigerator to hold our pens!! yay!! Now we are working hard on ads to rent out space, hold workshops, offer classes, and much more to establish our presence in the community.
