The JTG Foundation

My name is Mitch Goldstein, and I am a rural surgeon in Northern Minnesota. I would like to tell you about a nonprofit organization I started this year. The JTG Foundation, Just To Give, was established with the premise of helping others in times of need. The purpose is to help families or individuals during times of unexpected difficulties or situations where income earned is temporarily discontinued.

I came up with the idea after hearing about people in unforeseen situations such as losing a home to a fire or a medical event where the father or mother had to leave a job in order to take care of a family member during medical treatment. The number of people and families in these unfortunate situations is endless, and I realized I wanted to give more than I what I could afford. As a result, I came up I came up with the idea for a nonprofit to help others in times of need.

The JTG Foundation is now a nonprofit 501c3 organization (Tax ID 47-3455669). This organization intends to develop a private enterprise that would use 100% of its profits to fund the program, thus enabling us to continually provide financial help for those in times of need. We have plans to build restaurants in larger cities to provide for people in those communities. We do not want to compete with the limited number of locally-owned restaurants in small cities, so we will build bagel shops in those locations instead. Once established and operating, 60% of the profit will go directly to The JTG Foundation, and 40% will be reinvested in building other restaurants and bagel shops in different communities in order for us to spread the impact of the foundation.

In regards to distributing funds from The JTG Foundation, we will hire a staff and develop an application for those in need. This way, we will be able to verify each situation to make sure each request is valid, thereafter providing money to those in need.

However, in order to build the first restaurant, we need to raise money. After consulting with an architect and a selected group of restaurant managers, we came up with an initial cost to build the first restaurant and a budget to hire the appropriate staff necessary to create a menu and provide excellent service. At this time, I am asking for tax deductible donations to the JTG Foundation so that we may begin building. I would be more than happy to further discuss the donation process with you.  Thank you for your consideration and support. I look forward to speaking with you soon.
