Though we are devastated by the sudden loss of our granddaughter and niece, Zella-Ray Amani Martin, we continue to take great comfort in and strength from the outpouring of love and prayers from our dear family, friends, and even those we’ve never met who have been touched by hearing her story.
Zella-Ray loved horses and some of our last pictures of her are riding a pony with her father proudly at her side at the Topsfield Fair. Her favorite song was “Ba-Ba Black Sheep.” She was just starting to talk in full sentences, potty-training, and reciting her ABCs. She loved her four cousins (and they her) and though several were quite a bit older, they had a hard time keeping up with her! She was so sweet but was also enjoying expressing her bossy side with them; if their attention turned away from her, she could be heard yelling “hey guys!” as she chased after them.
For Easter, Zella-Ray, her baby brother Bellamy, and her four cousins Jaxon, Lilly, Gryphon, and Lincoln (her best friend) all presented their Memere and Pepere Martin with baby chicks, and she loved to run around and play with them and her cousins these past months as the chicks grew into chickens.
Zella-Ray left us much too soon, but we were blessed to know her here on this earth for 2 years, 2 months, 2 days, and we will cherish the memories we have of her until we meet her again in Heaven.
She will not be forgotten!
We are also committed to ensure Zella-Ray’s baby brother, Bellamy, grows up knowing how much his big sister loved him and that Bellamy has a long, safe life full of love and laughter.
We thank all of you for your continued support and prayers during this time which is heartbreaking beyond words. Thank you for the calls, texts, visits, flowers, and food too!
We are constantly asked what people can do and how they can help. On behalf of our son/brother and grandson/nephew, we ask that in lieu of flowers you make a donation to this fund in Zella-Ray’s name if you are so led. All funds will be used for funeral and ongoing legal expenses, with any remainder put into an account reserved for her baby brother, Bellamy.
