Braydon Yardley Memorial

Donation protected
As one of the many friends of Brady, Renee, Braydon and Emma Yardley, we have all felt a need to reach out and help in any way possible.  Please considering donating and sharing this campaign.

Braydon’s Diagnosis
Braydon began feeling ill at the beginning of October, losing weight and unable to eat at times due to abdominal pain. He remained the good natured person he is and also pushed forward in order to play the last football game of his career as a senior. He is a loyal teammate and steadfast friend to many. His friends and family assumed he had a viral illness and it just needed time to “run it’s course”, as the pain increased his mother, Renee, took him to the doctor where labs and ultimately an abdominal ultrasound revealed masses on both his pancreas and liver. He was admitted to Children’s Hospital and biopsies were performed on 10/25/2018. The results of those biopsies were received today, Braydon has been diagnosed with Hepatocellular Carcinoma, this is an extremely rare cancer for a 17 year old, they are sending his biopsies and information to Mayo Clinic in an effort to confirm that this is indeed the correct form. Braydon is tentatively scheduled for surgery next week and his family, true to their form, remain positive and optimistic.

Why You Are So Important
Braydons father recently started his own business installing garage doors and is self employed, Braydon’s mother suffers from Multiple Sclerosis and is only able to tolerate so many hours of work as a paraprofessional in the middle school library. They belong by their sons side throughout this time without the burden and worry of paying for his care, electricity, groceries, care of their young daughter, Emma and the existing medical bills they’ve already incurred.

Backstory
My sons have known Braydon almost their entire lives, they’ve been the best of friends since a young age, my eldest Conner will graduate highschool this spring with Braydon.  My daughters are also best friends with Emma and I consider Renee a sister, so I can attest as can many that these are all wonderful people. The Yardleys would give the shirt off their backs to a friend. Renee has, despite her illness, been an active volunteer for Hopes Closet, a secondhand store who’s proceeds benefit the less fortunate in our community. They are also active members of the Methodist Church.  Braydon was confirmed in church, is active in football, basketball, Legion Baseball and Trap shooting.

Update 11/25/2018

From Renee (Braydon’s mother) Please see other updates listed under update tab for more information regarding the lead up to this second surgery.

Going to the doctor tomorrow for surgery follow up. Spoke with the nurse of the doctor from Nebraska Medicine, today, and they are looking at another surgery for next week. Will be talking to them again when they get things scheduled. Braydon has felt well enough to hang out with a few friends these last couple of days, so that’s always a good thing.

As hard as it is to even think about, the surgery is dangerous, and was told today that liver failure is a possibility. The ultrasound done last week, showed a small amount of fluid running through the portal vein, so they are thinking that by removing the enlarged lymph nodes, the vein will be reopened, allowing fluid to run freely. That will allow them to remove half of the liver, with the cancer mass, and it will still be able to reconstruct itself.

I will let you know more about next week as soon as I know something. Thank you all so much for your continued support! I have so much faith in our doctors, Braydon will get through this!
