Help us recreate history and return a rake of mineral wagons to the valleys!
The Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway Company (1983) Ltd are fundraising move a rake of mineral wagons to Blaenavon's Heritage Railway which is located on the border of the Brecon Beacons in South Wales to help us tell the story of our line. The railway opened almost 150 years ago for the purpose of moving coal into the Midlands to fuel the industrial revolution, Whilst the reason of Blaenavon existing today was due to the opening of Blaenavon Ironworks in 1789 which sent Iron products worldwide, Later The Blaenavon Iron and Coal Company opened Big Pit, Shortly after our railway line was being built, Today we want to showcase the history of the railway & Blaenavon's past, Help us make this possible!
The total cost of transporting the mineral wagons is estimated to be £5,000
Any support you can give would be gratefully received, Donations can be made by heading to our just giving page (here), or by sending a cheque made out to " The Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway Company (1983) Ltd " and sending to " The Wagon Appeal, Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway Company (1983) Ltd, 33 Broad Street, Blaenavon, Pontypool, NP4 9ND.
As a THANK YOU for supporting us in bringing these wonderful wagons home to tell the story of our line we have some incentives to offer our supporters.
A donation of £50 or more - An official railway t-shirt to show your support for the fundraiser.
A donation of £75 or more - All of the above plus an invitation to the first summer evening photo-charter with the wagons.
A donation of £225 or more - All of the above plus a cab ride on a Steam or Diesel locomotive (depending on locomotive availability)

Please note when donating that the mineral wagons will not be owned by the railway, However they will be on a long term loan.
