The Vibe Tribe

FULFILLING A LIFE LONG DREAM! When God made cancer a part of my journey two years ago, he told me he did it for two reasons:

He New I could handle it.
Bigger and better things were going to be a result of it. Well, he certainly kept his word because the past 24 months have been both challenging and amazing. I learned so much about life, love, faith and the generosity of people.                    Another example of the bigger and better was the breakfast meeting I had yesterday with Brian Kestler, one of my Vibe Tribe brothers. I’m happy to tell you that I have decided to accept the role of CEO of our nonprofit charity, The Vibe Tribe. We’ve been talking about this for many months but I couldn’t commit because of my health. I’m glad this opportunity came along because I was getting ready to accept a job as a male stripper at local retirement homes dancing under the name of Rusty Hammer. This will be a full-time job for me and I look forward to the challenges ahead.
Our mission statement is quite simple: Acting upon the needs of others! We will also have a nonprofit Business Networking arm of The Vibe Tribe. More information on that soon.

The reason why I stayed in sports radio/TV so long

(too long) was because it allowed me to be a voice for many of the wonderful local charities and organizations. My parents taught their 10 kids at an early age that your true currency in life is the effect you have on others and everything you touch. Call me a dreamer but I think The Vibe Tribe can make St. Louis and this world a better place.

PLEASE WATCH THIS VIDEO- I will be sending this video out to companies and corporations who will hopefully sponsor/partner with us. As you watch the video, keep in mind that the past two years, The Vibe Tribe did all of the following with a budget of $O: Financially helped several families whose kids were diagnosed with cancer, held a Vibe Tribe Clothing Drive for the homeless, volunteered with the Special Olympics to help promote their annual gala event, organized a fundraiser to raise money for the family of Arnold police officer Ryan O’Connor who was shot in the line of duty, teamed up with several local companies to buy and install new outside basketball hoops for Carver Elementary School on Bell Avenue, volunteered at Nottingham High School CAJT to work with developmentally disabled inner-city students and with the assistance of the  St. Louis Spanish society, hosted our annual washer tourney that financially helped several local families in need. Truth be told, The Vibe Tribe has a soft spot for helping children. We plan to promote and work with other charities in the area such as The St. Louis Hero Network, BackStoppers and AFAF (Anything For A Friend) just to name a few.

HOW YOU CAN HELP-

A wise nonprofit executive recently told me that running a nonprofit is just like running a business. The revenues have to exceed the expenses. The Vibe Tribe has been operating the past two years without a budget so fundraising the next 30- 60 days will be crucial. Our goal is to have this often running by May 1. We need start up money and donations to help:

Pay an attorney to legally incorporate The Vibe Tribe as a nonprofit, obtain licenses and permits, pay someone to build and host the website, marketing/printing/promotional expenses, grand opening party, expenses to entertain potential corporate partners and a salary for me in March/April. I will run this out of the office in my house initially but eventually we will need money for office space, furniture and equipment down the road.

BOTTOM LINE- Volunteering and helping others have always been passions of mine. We want to take The Vibe Tribe to the next level. The video is evidence that The Vibe Tribe has already made a difference in St. Louis and has done so without any revenue. Since I do not have children, I would like this to be my legacy and pass it down one day to one of my nieces or nephews and keep it in the family for posterity. If you believe in me, if you believe in Brian Kestler, if you believe in The Vibe Tribe, if you believe in St. Louis, if you believe in people and if you believe in acting upon the needs of others. Thank you.
